A really nice steel! You could spend more, but why?
I am pleasantly surprised by the heft and apparent craftsmanship of this honing steel! Ignore the reviews that say this is not a good sharpener. It is not a sharpener at all, it is a honing steel, for touching up the edge on a knife between sharpenings. It does that job very well. No honing steel is going to bring back a dull edge. When the steel isn't working well anymore, use a sharpener to bring the edge back, then hone with the steel to razor-sharp before each use. Plenty of videos out there on how to do each process. The 8" length is fine for all the knives I use, up to 10" chef knife. There are plenty of more expensive options out there, but I don't see how they could be much better than this.

beautiful and hefty
This thing is gorgeous! I was replacing a "standard" steel in my knife block with one designed for a new high carbon knife I received as a gift. The one minus, that is not a detriment to the tool itself, is that this does not fit into the block as it is a thicker gauge than the old one I have. So it stays in its very decent cardboard box it was shipped in. It has a nice heft and the steel was ground nicely to help keep my knives honed. The "fiery" handle is beautiful wood and I am very pleased with it, especially for the price.

Really works!
I recently bought myself some new high end kitchen knives and after reading the review on this Tuo sharpening steel decided to buy one. Boy am I glad I did! As the new knives didn't need sharpening I tested it on my old kitchen knives as well as my pocket knife. (I also bought a double sided sharpening stone to see which worked better.) I am soo happy with the Tuo. It flat out works. Simple as it gets - take it out of the knife block and use it. Much less work than having to soak the stone for 10-15 minutes before you can use it. And, as others have said, the handle is really beautiful.

Works great & beautiful too
A honing steel is a pretty basic device, but there are important differences between them in how effective they are and how easy they are to use. I've had a few of them, and this is the best one I've had. First, it's easy and secure to hold. Second, it works well. A few swipes is all it takes to clean up the blade on my 8-inch chef's knife. Finally, it is a beautiful tool-lovely to look at. That's not really all that important, but it is nice. There are a couple of provisos. Remember, this is a honing steel, not a sharpener. That's a different tool which takes off more metal from the knife blade. Also, this steel is bigger around than my previous honing steel, so I had to drill a bigger hole in my wood knife block.

Great honing steel
This is an excellent honing steel. I didn't think it would be this big of an improvement over the one that came with an old Faber knife set but it is works so much better I can hardly believe it. My old one would bring the edge back a bit with a lot of effort, like 20+ strokes per side. This brings the edge back like the blade was just sharpened with just a couple passes. Definitely surpassed my expectations. I have used it with no issues on a dozen knives, the largest being a pair of 8" chef knives.

Honing steel is not long enough
The honing steel is only 8" in length and feels a bit awkward when honing a knife with a 10-12" blade, the steel needs to be 12"

Works! Look up what pakkawood is if you don’t know
Nice and hefty,Today I learned pakkawood is not actually wood, it’s a wood plastic composite.Probably better in the long term for ease of cleaning, but not quite what I was expecting.Works though, honed a knife no problem with it, and seems like a quality build. Definitely keeping.

A Must have!
I used Tuo knives for several years and had a steel from another company. I decided I wanted my knives and steel to match. Glad I made this change. The weight is perfect and balanced nice in my hand. I used a steel to sharpen knives for decades. This is a nice tool.

A must have for your kitchen if you love cooking
I use a Chef knife most of the time when cutting vegetables for cooking. This is the best tool to keep your knives in good shape and sharp. I use it before chopping tomatoes every time and the knife doesn't create even a single drop on the board. For best results, make sure that you hold the knife at a 20-degree angle when honing, I have added a picture to show what I mean. The packing is great and I have kept it to store the honing steel. The wood handle gives a luxurious feeling when holding.

Disappointed
After purchasing several excellent knives from this company I had high hopes. At this price point I expected to get a high-performing and long-lasting sharpener. After a few uses, which yielded similar results to cheaper sharpeners I own, it’s effectiveness started decreasing to the point where I have gone back to my trusted Kuraidori. Gave it 2 points because it looks good in my knife block

Solid steel.
This steel arrived quickly. It has a very nice wood grain handle on it, and feels nice in the hand. A good, solid steel. Works great.

Beautiful, sturdy, effective
After over five years with slowly dulling knives, I'm so happy to have this. It brought all my most used knives back from the brink. I found it a bit shorter than most honing rods, but it was still effective for sharpening everything I needed.A professional may draw issue with the length, as it will force you to adjust your technique

A little heavy but still very good knife sharpener
Came in really quickly, good length I bought the 9 inch steel rod, a little heavy but you get used to it and beautiful wood handle with logo at the end of it.
