Super nice compact measuring tool to have!It works well, it's compact, the battery life isn't bad, and my cat loves the laser.It's not quite accurate enough for very short distances, but for measuring entire rooms, it's super nice, measuring down to the milimeter isn't all too important.Really solid tool, overall! Wish you didn't have to connect to the app for a bunch of the features, but having that all controlled via smartphone brings down the parts cost and keeps it more affordable, so at the end of the day, no complaints.

Very nice design. I had high hopes it would work well. It made accurate measurements wall to wall inside the house. I had hoped to use it for some exterior measurements in difficult terrain - from a pole to a flat wall. It would only give me an error message. The distance was only 45 ft. so it was not that it was too far away. It appears that the problem was bright sunlight. It does not work in sunlight. In the shade it worked OK. But then I dropped it in wet grass. Even though I dried it out carefully, it never worked again. Garbage.

Works good for my purpose. Integration with apps other than is own seems nonexistent. The App it pairs with it’s just about useless. If you don’t intend to use the Bluetooth features it’s totally adequate so far.

Ok, so yeah, you can easily find something similar to this, that can do mostly everything that it does, as well as a whole lot more, for something like thirty bucks. Well, I already knew that before I ordered this laser measuring tool. And I also already knew that I would have to use the app to switch between the front-based mode for free measurement, and the tail-based mode for edge measurement, because one of the pictures said that was the case.Now, I think they should have made this so that you didn't have to use the app to switch between those two measuring modes, but they didn't. And since I already knew that before I ordered this, if I was upset about it then that would be my own fault, lol. But despite that, I still ordered it. And I can't say exactly why either. I think I'm starting to develop a compulsion to obtain as many of HOTO's products as I can. I don't know, they are just very attractive to me for some reason.I think HOTO might even be a part of that very popular Beijing company, Xiaomi, because that's the developer of the Mi Home app that is sometimes used with HOTO products. And speaking of the app, it's actually not half bad. But don't just take my word for it. Because at the time of this review, the Mi Home app on the Google Play Store had 50 million downloads and had an average rating of 4.2 stars from ONE MILLION reviews!Anyway, I wouldn't recommend gifting this to someone, or using it yourself, if it's going to be used as an everyday measuring tool on constructions sites or anything like that. No, this is more meant for use around the house every now and then. Well, that's my opinion at least.

i love this thing. it's great for guestimating distance when you are doing some prelim planning. it *is* accurate, but requires being held against a firm surface. hand holding it just introduces too much shake. it's great for measureing long distances where tape measures get cumbersome. also, it's a laser. read; visable light. i found that, if you are using this outside, make sure you can see the dot on the other side. if it's too bright for you to see, it's too bright for it to see. used it for spec'ing out a 20x20 base for a glam tent. i've measured my house, the distance between trees and just about anything that stands still long enough for me to get a reading. oh. but the app is crap. it asks for personal information and has you create an account that only tracks and after all that it does not recognize the device. get the laser but use a pen and paper in place of the app.
