No it does not melt in a hot car. I've had mine for a couple of months now no issues at all

If there are three straps the last strap, doesn’t it interfere with the hinges?

The third (rear) strap actually sits behind the hinge. When the lid is opened, you can't really see the third strap. Be sure to follow the instructions...they turn a 3 minute struggle into a 15 second cakewalk.

Will this fit my 2022 RAV4?
