I first became aware of Cassandra Overby a couple of years ago while watching a Rick Steves video on the French Alps. Cassandra was guiding Rick Steves on the Tour Du Mont Blanc, I immediately purchased her book "Explore Europe on Foot..." and have been hooked on hiking Europe ever since. Cassandra's book is a comprehensive guide for the beginner or experienced hiker. The book contains 15 well researched and recommended hikes along with all of the necessary details and insights for the reader to consider. I also found the book's chapters on "planning" and "packing" very helpful. I can't wait to read Cassandra's second book... I've just ordered it!

We met Cassandra and Mac briefly for the first time during their travel through France and greatly enjoyed our time biking and wining around the beautiful city of Paris. I didn't know at the time what an amazing writer Cassandra is. For me, this book feels like an extension of some of the great stories they told us about their travels around Europe. At the time, my partner and I listened in awe and envy as they explained their planned adventures. And then the next few days my partner and I talked about how we could go about being in their 'shoes' but weren't clear on the path forward. It's an intimidating thought, especially going to countries where you don't know the language and trying to pick the best destinations among the thousands of options. I'm so glad I bought this book as it's the perfect collection of exactly how to go about that. Cassandra's stories and descriptions about the best walking trails throughout the continent are entertaining and incredibly insightful. Her advice and suggestions throughout are digestible and most importantly, actionable. Even had we not met them personally, the book stands by itself as an incredibly inspirational, entertaining, and thorough account of the best trails and best approach to walking them.

Great intro to specific walking trips with alternate routes, shortened & extended routes! Most excellent!! From one day wanders to multiple days, planning, packing, sights, etc

The book is good...well written, good pictures, interesting trips...but each trip is only given a few pages. I would have liked to have seen a bit more detail on each trip.

This book is very well written and presented. It will give you amazing suggestions for epic European travel. I used this to plan one trip already and cannot wait for the next!

I love this book! I saw Cassandra on an episode of Rick Steves where they were hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc, which inspired me to buy this book. It touches upon everything you need to know to do a walking/hiking tour in Europe. She highlights 10 of her favorite Europe walk/hikes but also covers how to get there, what to pack, how to pack, what to do to get in shape ahead of time, European customs, etc. I have done both traditional city sight seeing travel in Europe numerous times and once hiked in the Swiss Alps. I still found this book incredibly helpful and exciting to read!

As I get closer to retirement I think more and more about one of my favorite activities, walking. In one of my favorite places, Europe. Initially I was only interested in this book for the dozen or so walking paths she describes but as I read the book I realized that it would be helpful for me in preparation for an extended walking tour. Even such details as the types of socks to buy, the type of towel to carry with you and so many more little details are spot on. Thank you Cassandra!

Very antimetric. Also doesn't give good directions to any of the cannibal spas.

Only 1/3 of the way through and can’t wait to keep reading!Lots of helpful tips making each adventure unique and customizable to accommodate your likes and dislikesI especially like how it says what languages you can expect to encounter on each trail and which seasons are best suited for each trailExactly what I was looking for!I hope that there is a second book with more trail recommendations

I had no idea that walking tours were a thing! Overby's book is well put together with many resources. This is a very helpful resource.

So glad I saw the author on Rick Steves. I will try several of her hikes. Great book, so glad you put together a list of European hikes
