Teton Sports Camp Pillow; Great for Travel, Camping and Backpacking; Washable, Brown

I couldn't believe how difficult it would be to buy a camping pillow. There are so many and the amount of reviews can confuse the issue. I almost gave up and then found these buried deep after many pages. I was sure that inflatables would be a problem with air leaks, but I still gave them a chance when reviewing different products. There were hybrids which had a combination of air, down or foam of some sort but these could be very expensive and fall short of comfort in the end. I can understand the need to pack down small and be light when backpacking and these come somewhere in between that. I bicycle and use a trailer so I can carry more weight when necessary. The bottom line for me is comfort, isn't that what a pillow is for. This pillow meets that need and it packs down nicely. There is no fear of air leakage since it is made from similar materials as synthetic fiber fill that you would fine in many sleeping bags. The removable outer cover is a requirement for me to make washing easier and the size is just right when using a sleeping pad which for me comes in at 25 inches at the shoulder. This pillow is smaller and doesn't hang over the sleeping pad but big enough to provide adequate head room and is comfortable. I couldn't believe how expensive many of the pillows were, at the price this one is being sold I consider it a bargain. If spending $ 50.00 for a pillow that will leak or bottom out is your goal, then don't buy this one, but if spending less for a nicely made pillow that in my opinion is just right in size and not too heavy and feels good against your face and keeps you warm, then this could be money well spent.

Nice pillow with minimal blowing involved. It self inflates to a point and then I blow in it just a little if I wanted it fuller. I could inflate it to the perfect amount of thickness. It holds up well and is easy to deflate and store. I bought this along with the seat cushion as shown in my photos. I'm happy with it.

Finally, a self-inflating travel or camping pillow that is actually really comfortable. My oldest daughter is going away to summer camp this summer and while there they take a couple of camping trips. While we have taken family camping trips before, we have gone by car where it is easy to pack in a bunch of gear (including regular pillows). She will be hiking out to their campsite, however, and therefore needs to be mindful of weight and size of her gear. I have not very fond memories of camping as a kid using a rolled up towel or my sweatshirt as a pillow and consequently not getting a very good night sleep. In an effort to spare her the same fate, I thought that a self-inflating pillow would solve the problem of a comfortable pillow but also something compact to fit in her pack. On the plus side, this pillow is very comfortable. It is not made of a shiny or slippery material so your head does not roll off and it does not make a funny crinkly sound when you use it. Also, there is a foam of some sort in the the pillow that adds to the comfort. You can also fully fill the pillow if you like a very full pillow (though I found it to be a bit too full this way, leading to your head rolling off a bit too easily) or you can lit a bit of air out so there is more "give" in the pillow. I found this to be best so that it conforms a bit to your head. I also liked the mechanism for opening and closing the nozzle. You have to push in/pull out a bit so that makes it less likely for it to accidentally open on you. On the con side, I found that the "self-inflating" was pretty slow. I didn't feel that it was actually going to inflate on its own. However, a few short breaths it is filled so this is not really much of a con. Also, because of the filling in the pillow (which is a plus because it is more comfortable that way), the pillow cannot fold down as small as I would like. So, it is a bit bulkier than some of the other camping pillow options. I think it will still serve my daughter's purposes fine but I wanted to point it out in case someone was looking for an extremely compact pillow. We have all had fun playing with it (and now my boys want their own) and my daughter can't wait to take it with her on her camping trip this summer.

This was used by a child for a 2 night 3 day scouting campout, it rained for almost the whole time. She reports it was comfortable to sleep on (it did not appear to wick moisture from the very damp air) and although a little challenging due to the bulk she was able to get it back into the travel bag on her own. I appreciate the carrying strap/loop across the bottom end of the bag as it allows it to easily be clipped to the outside of the pack with carabiners or straps etc.

I usually have trouble sleeping when I’m backpacking and one thing really helps is a comfortable pillow. Unfortunately, I’ve tried a few camping pillows without finding one I liked. I have a couple of regular inflatable pillows that are just too small and not really comfortable because it feels like I’m sleeping on a balloon. Then I bought a foam filled pillow by Thermarest. It’s much more comfortable, but not quite firm enough to suit me. It’s also really bulky even when compressed. Now I’ve found this pillow, which looks to be the best of both worlds. The expanding foam inside gives more of the feel of a traditional pillow, and the ability to inflate it with air helps to regulate the firmness without the balloon feeling. When you’re ready to pack up, you can compress it and it doesn’t take up a huge amount of space. The top fabric is also nice and soft, and not the plastic feel of my inflatable pillows. All that said, this is not a pillow for someone who is looking for the lightest weight pillow possible. I wish I could use one of the ultralight inflatable options, but I just can’t get a decent night sleep using one. This is a nice compromise if size, weight, and comfort. It did not include a patch kit, so that is something to consider. I have one with my inflatable sleeping pad, so no worries there. If it holds up with use, this product is a home run.

Tiny but comfortable. It's hard to tell from the photos just how tiny this thing is (about the size of an iPad screen) but it was comfy. It made a particularly good pillow for the hammock as well. Usually, the only "pillow" I have when camping is a backpack or a bag of clothes so this felt like an upgrade. If you normally take bed pillows camping you will probably be disappointed by the size of this pillow. They are more or less weightless and squish down pretty good in their included case. I'm perfectly satisfied considering what I paid. If they made one about double the size, I'd likely buy it.

The item's compact size and lightweight nature facilitate convenient portability within the included pouch.

Ok size comes with a pillow cover and carry bag but I do find it a bit on the thin side. Almost prefer it left squished in the carry bag for extra firmness and support.
