Nice Quality and Great for Sketching
I've been expanding on my sketching/shading supplies and I came across this lead holder. Before I didn't even know what it was. I was familiar with mechanical pencils. Used those all the time at school for note taking and sketching. It seems this combines the best of both worlds. Using the same lead core from 2 pencils of different hardness levels and providing the extra benefits of sharpening them to a point and saving time on traditional pencil sharpening. Also more conventient to travel with and with the thicker lead, much harder to break. I'm still playing around with this set, but I'm loving it so far. It is perfect for laying out the framework of my picture as well as sketching out the lighter/finer rough outlines. I might get a second lead holder so I can have the HB and 4B lead both ready to go when need be. Overall a nice additional tool to use along with my graphite sets.

Pretty solid holder, good quality 4B graphite, great price.
I give it full points: for the 4B lead, eraser, and the little sharpener, it's still an OK deal, and the holder...I haven't had any problems. It looks similar from the pictures to the old Staedtler Mars Technico 700, but it's a bit shorter in length, which is ideal for me. Holding it up against the Koh-I-Noor Versatil 5900, it's roughly the same length, minus about 1/4 inch. The pointer/cap is not as tight as the Staedtler Mars, but I've learned from using the Koh-I-Noor holders and some other no-name pencils to not carry them loose in a work pant's cargo pocket, or either the cap will become lost or the pencil will.I'd buy it again, even just for the holder and more 4B leads. Not that excited to get yet more HB leads, since I never use them, but I suppose some people probably do.

Excellent value - nice- well packaged mechanical pen set
Surprised to find that the mechanical pencil already had a lead loaded in the pen. Nice. The quality of the components is very good and the pencil has a rotator at the top that allows one to flag the hardness of the lead in the pen as a reminder. I don't understand the comments that people don't know the hardness of the leads in the two spare lead blue boxes. Each is clearly labeled in the lower right with the lead hardness "HB & 4H". If there is any dislike or concern, I have a feeling that the very small lead sharpener will get lost or go missing- its quite small. To combat this I placed a small bit of velcro on its handle and a companion piece on my pencil holding set so it stays in one place between uses. I would buy this set again. Great value for the money.

Nice leads and accessories, be careful with the O ring...
Overall the kit is nice and has everything you need to get started with technical drafting. Two popular choices of lead hardness, a lead sharpener, polymer eraser, and lead holder.Compared to my old Staedtler-Mars lead holder, this one appears to be of equivalent quality, except for the addition of a lead hardness indicator on the back end of the holder. This is a knurled sleeve with a little window in it that you can turn to display a choice of different lead types, so you can remember at qa glance what you have loaded into the holder. But, there is a tiny red O ring that provides friction and keeps this sleeve from turning on its own. this O ring is probably going to be a point of failure one day as it ages and wears out. These are cheap enough to replace when that happens, but I'd have preferred they use a different method for generating friction than a urethane O ring. In use, it can "poke out" of the side of the sleeve. I managed to get it seated properly again, but it could pop out again just as easily. Also, the end cap does have a built in lead sharpener so if you don't have a sharpener handy you can point it with the cap. Be sure to blow out the graphite dust before putting the cap back on or it will sprinkle all over your drawing.Overall I like it, and if you just set the indicator sleeve to one lead type and leave it there you will probably never have a problem with the O ring.

Very happy. Pleasantly Surprised.
I’ve had a Stadtler mechanical pencil that I’ve owned and used for something like 30 years since I was in HS art class and continued using it professionally all these years. It still works and now I have two. This looks like it is almost and identical copy of that Stadtler pencil. It’s a half inch shorter or so. Whether they copied the Stadtler design or not, this pencil is very well made. It comes with a ton of lead. I’m a graphic designer, not an illustrator so that many leads will likely outlive my need for them :) The sharpener works great (my old sharpener plastic is cracked and dull blade) so this is very welcome. Haven’t used the eraser yet. Almost feel a tiny bit guilty, like I’m cheating on Stadtler after so many excellent years of use.

Super mechanical. Highly recommend
Best mechanical pencil I’ve ever owned. The leads are stable, never chip or break and the handle is comfortable in my hand without being too light or heavy. The lead comes in two degrees when you get it, and even with just the two, you can do so much with it, as it is easy to vary it with pressure unlike some regular pencils that don’t adjust to your pressure. Love this pencil. And it sharpens great with the little sharpener that came with it!

Great lead pencil
I bought this lead pencil for my son who is a middle school student. He loves using lead pencils, but they are not durable and the lead breaks. Plus he does not seem to hold the pencils correctly. We have been through multiple brands and have not found the right one. This pencil is well constructed and durable. My son loves writing with this pencil and it is comfortable to hold. The pencil comes with a nice container of lead refills. I highly recommend this lead pencil set. It is worth every dollar. So far it's a winner!
