Troxel Spirit Helmet, Fuchsia, Small

After 43 years away from horses, I am now happily Back In The Saddle Again! So, I wanted a terrific helmet for lessons and trail riding. I originally found this particular helmet at one of the few remaining local tack/saddle shops in our area but, being unfamiliar with helmets, and due to the untrustworthy merchants at the shop, I discovered after bringing my new purchase home and reading the literature in the box that the bottom half of the helmet was missing, including all of the linings and the back "dial" system, which custom-tightens the helmet to your head. Rather than remaining down-in-the-dumps, I thankfully thought of Amazon. I was truly surprised to find that, not only did they actually have this identical helmet - but it was $29.00 less than what I had paid for that partial one from that deceitful tack shop! This helmet is exceedingly comfortable and well-ventilated. It also allows my hair pins and bands to remain on my head due to the ease and comfort of that fantastic dial system. The dial itself is located at the center back - very easy to reach, tighten and loosen, making the fit totally secure. Amazing! I highly recommend this helmet. I should have stayed with my original thoughts about ordering a product online that has to be sized. It never works. This helmet came on time, but was way too big for my then 7 year old. We ordered online only because the green was hard to find in our area. After speaking with our riding instructor we were told that this style of helmet runs bigger than most and even the small would probably not fit. It cost me 20$ to return it and then of course the refund is less S&H. So it cost me a pretty penny and still no helmet. I gave it a 4 because it was no fault of the company. Just a chance I keep telling myself not to take. I would suggest buying something like this local unless they offer free shipping and free returns. Or maybe trying one on locally and then if you can't find the color go online. Costly mistake we learned afterward. When I returned the item I did indicate on the form that I wanted to exchange for a smaller size. It worked to our advantage that this was ignored.

Bought it for my daughter after she outgrew her previous helmet. Last one was a trowel too. Seems to do the trick, but thank the Lord we haven't had to "test" it out to see how well it does in a fall. I like the dial in fit in the back, which definitely gives you a snugger fit and more room to grow than the others without the dial. Our previous trowel didn't have the dial. Would have preferred one of the more upgraded helmets by Troxel, but they are so expensive.

I read reviews for this helmet and bought it because it was a great price. Multiple reviews said the large will fit an adult but I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly. It came sealed in a box with plastic and is a beautiful shiny black with no blemishes. It has a knob on the back that allows for extra adjustment to size and fit, which is awesome. While I agree that a helmet is not meant to be a fashion item, but rather a piece of equipment meant to keep you safe, my only complaint is how large the dome top is. It makes me look like a giant bobble head. The helmet doesn't feel as heavy as it looks like it would be but the giant top is a bit unsightly. Overall, still a great helmet.

This is the first helmet I have ever worn for horseback riding. It is better than expected! I was afraid it would feel heavy or restrictive, however, it is light and does not inhibit movement at all. I wanted a low profile helmet and this one looks pretty nice on. I don't feel self conscious in this helmet at all. So glad I finally decided to get and wear a helmet and I'm also glad I made the right choice in purchasing. I measured my head and the listed size matched perfectly.

This helmet is excellent you can fix the size for the head.I feel my child is secure and protected while doing his classes.

This is a great looking helmet but I'm taking away 1 star because the color description is off. It says Mint and the color on my computer screen looks minty green but in person, it's actually a lot more blue. Bought a Small for my 9 yr old who's head I measured was 22". It fit, however the exterior of the helmet is so huge! It made her look really lopsided. I tried it on (it fits me too) and it looks like it should be for an adult. The horse on the side leads you to think it's a child's helmet.

Absolutely perfect, my 5 year old daughter started riding lessons and we didn't want to share helmets with any other kids. The instructor suggested a Troxel and we picked this one. Purchased the small and it fits her perfectly (Dial adjustment is fantastic). Definitely room for her to grow into. It does give her a more 'bobble' head appearance, but she loves it and it keeps her head safe. The mesh on the inside keeps her head cooler (And less sweaty) We 'spruced' up the helmet with some hot pink vinyl decals.Very happy with this purchase!
