Exact replacement for Liftmaster coupler
The old coupler on my Liftmaster 1/2 HP screw-drive opener broke when I pressed the button to open the garage door. I knew it had to be some sort of gearing failure since the motor was still running and lights still on. A quick check on Youtube led me to the plastic coupler, which is the designed failure point in the system that absorbs shock and keeps the screw or motor from breaking. Mine was shattered into about 8 pieces, probably just from age and fatigue (the opener is 16 years old). I found this part on Amazon and checked to ensure it would fit. Installation was pretty easy, but required a socket wrench to detach the screw track from the opener, and loosen the opener mounting straps so I could swing it away from the track to make room to insert the coupler between them. I had just enough room to work with my opener mounted about 6 inches from the ceiling. Before installing the coupler, I ran the motor to ensure it was all the way in the "down" direction, then turned the screw by hand to run the trolley all the way to the "down" position, so the door would run in the correct direction and distance when reconnected. After inserting the coupler, I lubed the screw, springs and wheels to keep everything running smoothly. It ran fine on the first try and needed just a small travel adjustment at both ends. I spent less than an hour on the repair and the coupler is working fine. Hopefully it will last another 16 years or more.

Perfect fit
After removing a couple screws connecting the rail to the box, was able to remove the broken coupler and replace it with the new coupler. Fit just like the original and restored the opener to operating condition.

This part fixed my broken garage door opener and saved me a lot!
This is exactly what I needed to fix my garage door opener. I am not much of a handy man but replacing this part was fairly simple and saved me hundreds of dollars by avoiding calling a repair company.

Inexpensive fix
Delivered quickly. Works as promised. Relatively easy to install once you search on YouTube regarding how to actually do it. Saved me a lot of money. I have two garage door openers and had the same issue with the other one a couple of years ago and it cost me over $100 to have someone come out and fix it. Great to only spend seven bucks and about 15 minutes of my time to get it fixed this time myself. A lot of people complain that this part is plastic and that it breaks but I suspect that you would want the seven dollar piece to break rather than having major gears within the lift unit itself or the garage door tearing something apart. I think the fact that this is designed to be the weakest link probably saves you a lot of money in the long run.

Part fitted perfectly and was relatively easy to install
This part fit my craftsman screw drive garage door opener. My wife's side was just humming like it was working and the door was not moving. I went on youtube find a video about what was going on. I was watching videos on a chain drive and almost bought the gear for that type drive, but I wanted to make sure I saw a video on a screw drive. When I found a screw drive video I realized that I need this item. The screw drive install is way easier than a chain drive because you don't have to open the unit. It was a little more challenging to install than the video I watched but I got it done.

Works with Liftmaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman SCREW drive openers
I have an 18 year old Craftsman opener and this part broke and went flying across the garage! Found quickly online. Recommend watching the YouTube videos on how to install. Read the reviews as a lot of important info there that will help also. IMPORTANT!!!! Figure out if your opener was in the down or up cycle when it broke as this is important. Mine was starting down so I made sure that after I installed the new one the opener would be in the down cycle when I pushed the button. Just run the opener and put your foot in front of the safety photo cells until it reverses and the lights blink...it is now up so the next time you push the button it will go down. My opener carrier block/slider was up toward the opener. I then just removed the 2 bolts that hold the rail to opener and it will slide back...put in new coupler then slide back and reinstall bolts. Run the opener WITHOUT door engaged and watch where the carrier block/slider stops. Adjust up and down travel on the opener until you have it where it should be....reconnect door to opener and check. You may have to fine tune up and down travel or up and down force. The entire process took about an hour and I'm old and slow. Hope this helps!
