Sturdy slow cooking pot for traditional curries
The chatti is well made and looks strong. I seasoned it :1. By applying a paste of turmeric powder and salt in it and keeping it out in the sun for five days.2. Then from the sixth day by filling it with water drained after washing rice for seven days3. After this I filled hot kanji water ( water after draining steamed rice made in an open vessel) for three days.4. Then I cooked some sambar in it yesterday night. It turned out yummy.But the aroma would not leave the vessel even after washing with hot water. I guess I need to season it once before using it again.5. Remember to always fill the vessel with liquid before putting it on the lighted stove. Keep the flame medium to low.6. It is a pleasure to cook in this pot and the food feels so real and delicious. It is worth the effort which does not feel like one if you make time and get involved in the process. Then it feels therapeutic.

I bought this kal chatti and seasoned it by keeping kanji water for 10 days nd then applied coconut oil and kept under the sun for 2 days. After that cooked keerai mulagoottal and rasam.It's yummy . U can make out that its seasoned when it wont absorb any more oil Its imp it shouldl b cooked in low flame only

Very disappointing
I pre-seasoned the product exactly as per instructions for over 3 weeks and then used it only for boiling,heating etc not cooking.used it for the first time for cooking and the chatti could not withstand the heat and broke. Very disappointing product

Very good.. means healthy and tasty foods can be prepared.retain curry flavour as such ..heat retained and balanced.can turn off stove before time...exact differences I felt in kalchatti cooking compare to normal utensils. Followed exact way of seasoning with turmeric and oil... But price can be reduced a little . I want one more .

Not good quality
The finishing isnt good. No proper instruction manual about seasoning before use. On my first use it broke a little. Totally poor finishing.

Perfect
Absolutely amazing product. Its become a kitchen essential for me.The initial preparing of the kal chatti is a bit tedious. Had to cover it with rice water and change it every day for 10 days. Then next 5 days i rubbed cooking oil on the inside and left it in the sun.I prepared dal. Mixed vegetables and masala potatoes. All of my dishes had an earthy flavour and it was delicious.
