Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 1 Paperback – May 3, 2005

I first read Fullmetal in 2006. I was a chaperone for my daughter's anime club to a convention. I asked her for a manga she'd think I'd enjoy. This was the one she chose.I had recently lost my Mom, and this story of two boys who lost their mother clicked with me immediately. I was hooked.The art is beautiful, the story compelling and the world HA has created is fascinating. There are plenty of laughs alongside the action.And this will be our 19th year attending the convention. Fullmetal Alchemist made me a lifetime fan of both manga and anime.

Fullmetal will remain one of the best manga of all time. My first copy was damaged in transport, but I received a pristine copy within a day of making my return.

FMA is a great anime, so I decided to get the manga, after watching the show 5 times!The manga came in perfect condition, and it arrived very quickly, about 2 days after ordering it.The characters in it have great character development, it's a very unique manga, I haven't seen any mangas quite like it. It has HILARIOUS HUMOR, that made me laugh out loud, literally!The main characters, Edward and Alphonse Elric are trying to get their original bodies back, after Ed loses his right arm, and left leg, having to use his "Full-metal automail" (thus being called the "Fullmetal Alchemist") acting as his limbs. Al loses his entire body, just being bound to a suit of armor.I highly recommend this manga, and the anime!!Would give 10 million stars! But, sadly, I cannot...

First off, let me say I generally am not a fan of anime or manga and had purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my younger brother. After flipping through the second and getting caught up, I borrowed the first from said brother. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime (television) adaptations (there are two) are good, however they do not compare to the plot and depth of story in the manga. If you are manga fan (or even if you're not, like me) and are looking for a plot revolving around moral right and wrong, love of family, and the lengths we will go to in order to save them, then this is for you. I highly recommend this purchase, and sincerely hope you take the time to read this series some time. If nothing else, binge watch the anime(s) when looking for something different on Netflix :)Note: The "Brotherhood" adaptation is truer to the manga, I prefer the original adaptation.

The whole manga is fine but the one page did disappoint me.

I am on a mission to complete an entire manga series, and my girlfriend recommended full metal, what a great choice! Can't wait to continue reading

Good story line good characters and the graphics also fine. Positive themes also. Looking forward to full metal alchemist 2.

This is my favorite anime of all time and I'm finally getting around to reading the manga, I love it, its great!
