IMPRESSIVE 8"
So I have had my 8" JBL GTO804 running off a Rockford Fosgate P2.200 bridged 4ohms @ 200 watts RMS for about 2 months now. This system is not in my car, its for my bedroom. I have the amp running off a Rosewill PSU, paired with Klipsch KG4.2 running off a good ol' Yamaha receiver. I built my own box for this sub, not using the recommended ported enclosure. I designed mine using the 12volt.com subwoofer enclosure/port calculator. I have my enclosure tuned @ 35hz with .66 cubic feet of volume (including port/sub displacement). This sub in this box sounds amazing, great for all types of music, I mainly listen to dubstep, rap, R&B and pop. Very good sound quality from such a small sub. This sub in my enclosure moves quite a bit of air. Its got a 2" x 10" port. I threw a bag at the port while playing Bass Ballin - Bass Mekanik and the bag just stayed floating around in the port. For the price I don't think you can find a better 8" subwoofer. My friends got a Rockford Fosgate P1-2x12 and I could say this 8" is comparable to one of his 12's. Great hard hitting subwoofer, very clean, great SQ and efficiency (you don't need a lot of power to get this little 8 loud). One thing i was surprised at was that this has 11.5mm of Xmax (excursion) this is more than a Rockford Fosgate P1 12 (new model). The RF P1 12 has 9.4mm. That's embarrassing. Overall, I would highly recommend this subwoofer to anyone especially if you are tight on space. Not only is this subwoofer compact, but it can get pretty loud and sustain SQ!! Mine never distorts and i do crank it... trust me. Gets really low too ! AMAZING 8!! I will be saying good bye to this jbl gto804 in January 2013 though... I have pre-ordered the Sundown Audio E8v3, will be selling the JBL to my friend cause hes going to put 2 of these ported in his Millenia. GREAT SUB! SIZE DOESNT MATTER LOL. Just buy it !

Best 8" sub on the market!
I used this sub to replace the factory 6.5" subwoofer in my Explorer and all I've got to say is WOW! I've installed and listened to dozens of different subs in countless vehicles and enclosures and this one takes the mighty-mouse award. It easily handles the 200 watts RMS that I'm dishing to it with and MTX amplifier and comes begging for more. The factory enclosure that I have it in is about .35 ft^3 net airspace so it is perfect for a sealed enclosure for this driver. I debated between this JBL sub and it's cousin, the Infinity Reference 8; I ended up getting both, but the JBL won simply because it had a slightly reduced depth so it fit perfectly in my factory enclosure after I enlarged the mounting hole and fabricated a mounting ring. It digs pretty dang low (easily hits 30 hz before any significant attenuation), especially for an 8. But it is also very musical and has good transient response with a good deal of kick. It's neither boomy or too punchy, but a very good blend for anything from Beastie Boys to Fallout Boy. If you know you want an 8, I'd get this or the Infinity. Their specs are almost identical and they both sound great, but this one has a unique basket design that allows the sub to fit in shallower enclosures. I am super impressed with the clarity, kick, and shear sound pressure levels this sub is cable of it. It has pretty good excursion so it will start bouncing with enough wattage. if you're on the fence - buy it! You won't regret it!

Crap company
My son ordered this for me for Christmas and it blew in less than a week. He ordered another one and it was sent to a different address and he's fighting still on it. Won't take blame. So I ordered it to get quicker and they send me this pictured used crap. Dont order this piece of junk

Decent, but not stellar, replacment for stock in '02 Expedition
If you have an 2002 era Ford Expedition and can get the stock sub out without damaging anything, you should be able to make the modifications to install this JBL sub. Dont forget to take out the screw from the rear of the sub box which secures the magnet. As another review mentioned, you do need to hack out the recessed area of the sub box (on the rear side) to allow for the depth of the new sub. I bought a flat piece of HVAC flashing, 10 screws and a tube of caulk to patch the hole. I rotated the new sub slightly to allow me the sub to be secured with new holes. The old ones will not line up. I added a 12" jumper from the sub to the stock speaker connector to the amp. Rather than using the gasket that came with the sub, I chose wider 3/8" sticky window foam insulation which works better (it is more forgiving). Another reviewer made the comment that making a spacer on the front of the enclosure rather than cutting out the rear. I thought about it, but decided patching the hole would be easier than making a properly fitting spacer. Now that I'm done, I still believe the patch route was easier (but the spacer was a good idea). Phase does not seem to matter with the amp. The Mach Sound System schematic (which I found somewhere on the internet) only acknowledges 2 wires going from the amp to the sub, but does not designate with "+" and "-". Performance: This sub is very highly rated (with and without the stock amp). The bass is deeper and richer, but the problem is there just isn't as much of it (at least from the drivers seat). The other seats all seem better. There is more bass outside the car, but that is a negative from my point of view, as I don't get my jollies from thumping my fellow drivers. Perhaps an aftermarket amp will improve the bass, but it's good enough for now.
