My favorite machete
I don't expect to use my longer machetes again. This one chops just as well, due to forward-heavy design, and it is much easier to lug around on my belt all day.

Exceeded expectations...
First day out of the box...Sheath is junk. I'm sure most of you expected that. I did too. Ballistic nylon is just to give you something to put it in.Steel is 3CR13...which...while nothing to write home about...gets the job done.Heat treat on the product I received is excellent.Chopped on some seasoned American Elm and...while it took some doing...it did get it done. Tried to baton the five inch Elm but couldn't. No surprise there. American Elm is all but unsplittable...but the blade didn't break, chip or take a permanent bend even though the cross grain of the Elm did stress the blade out of shape it snapped right back after it was removed. I would not have attempted this with the Pro.The "baton gimping" is pretty worthless on a six inch round as it disappears onto the round almost immediately. If batoning big rounds is important to you, this is not for you. The tip profile all but guarantees your batoning mallet is going to glance right off on anything over four inches. Two, three and four inch stuff it sings right through. It would likely do five inch splittable wood well too.Personally, I've never batoned a piece of wood in the field or at home except in these types of tests...but...I supposed it's nice to know one could access dry kindling in an emergency.Tested the edge on some cardboard after messing around with it for about an hour and it still cut just using it's own weight...and I haven't done a thing to it...it's still the out-of-the-box edge. The grind looks great, even on both sides and centered. And it is very light and comfortable.Other than the sheath being junk...and most nylon sheaths are...I'm pretty pleased with it. It exceeded my expectations

Batoning
Bought this just to baton firewood while camping. Because of the price I figured that if it didn't work it won't be a big loss. And I definitely wasn't expecting much. But, once I start chopping up wood for the fire I was very surprised. This knife made quick work of the wood and in no time I had the kindling for the bonfire. The only downside is that it's made in china

Awesome camp tool for chipping fire wood. Strong and tough enough to take a beating for splitting camp fire logs. The edge did not measure up to the Gerber's Reputation of holding a sharp edge.

Not bad
Machete is a bit lightweight for hard use and the steel is a bit soft also but feels great in the hand
