Albrecht Dürer Waterco-lour Marker

I ordered a set of 5 markers to try (at the moment the full range is 30 colours) as the full set was too expensive . However, the next day they were reduced and the following day was reduced again. The problem with a relatively small range is that if you wanted to expand you would always have duplicates. I ordered the full range of 30 and returned the pack of 5. I had researched them extensively and was really impressed. I had quite a few packs of watercolour markers which were no more than felt tip pens that minimally reacted to water. These are great! They are juicy as markers. They are dual ended. Brush and bullet tip (others have been bullet and chisel tip). You can put colour onto dry and wet watercolour paper. The Markers work on both but you can also lay the colour into a palette, add a touch of water and it turns into watercolour ‘paint’. That’s where they come into their own (and why the 30 colours is all you really need) as you can mix and blend any colour or shade you want. I can’t fault these and I’m clearing out the old so-called watercolour markers that I originally tried to use) as I see how poor they really were.

I really liked these, but I only gave 4 stars because I think they are very very over-priced. I would consider buying a bigger set if they weren't so expensive. I like the way they behave similar to regular watercolours, and a little goes a long way. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

I think that these are going to take quite some time to master. They have a lot of colour but I am finding that if I dont wet my page first then I cannot blend before the colour dries. I am sure there must be a knack, I just dont have it yet. Also they are a bit too chunky to be totally comfortable in my hand. If you were to like these they would need to have a lot more colours to choose from

The cardboard box and trays are flimsy and already buckled on arrival. The markers don't provide smooth colour on wet paper, and some hardly marked at all. When they dried on the paper, the marks and washes were VERY pale compared to the wet colour. Expensive for what they are..

They do what’s intended for a watercolour marker, quite well in fact. But, the packaging is dire. Come on Faber-Castell cheap flimsy cardboard. It tore just opening it. Now where to store them horizontally as advised? Other Faber-Castell items I’ve purchased have all been in sturdy travel worthy containers. But these are spilling everywhere. Not good for PR.

Love these as the pigment is stunning. But as I was doing my swatches I realised I have been robbed of a colour and sent two of Blue 100 instead. Very disappointed with that

Hoped to be able to use pencils on top.

Not had a chance to use these yet, as they are a Christmas present to me, but there is an amazing range of colours in the set. Like a kid in a schoolyard, I can't wait to get them used, I have a similar set to these, that are double ended, and mix well with other colours, if these are half as good they will be fine 😊

THE FABER-CASTELL ALBRECHT DURER ARTISTS WATERCOLOR MARKERS ( 30 ) ARE A VERY ENJOYABLE PRODUCT TO USE, ALTHOUGH, SO FAR, I'VE JUST USED THEM ON MATTE FILM BUT FIND THEM TO BLEND BEAUTIFULLY AND TO LIFT OFF EASILY WITH WATER, BUT ON THE FILM THEY WILL ERASE AS WELL. SUBTLE BLENDS, YET THEY HAVE INTENSE COLOR WHEN BRUSHED ON UNDILUTED. ON THE FILM THEY ALSO DRY QUICKLY. I'LL HAVE TO TRY THEM ON WATER COLOR PAPER OR MIXED MEDIA PAPER NEXT. ON THE FILM THEY MAKE A LOVELY BACKGROUND AND YOU CAN DRAW ON TOP WITH THE FABER- CASTELL POLYCHROMOS COLORED PENCILS AS WELL.
