What? A ghost?
Kate Carlisle continues to keep me mesmerized. Her characters are all Interesting and kept me second guessing whodunit. Our main gal, Shannon, was best of all. She's a woman's woman. Strong, persistent, with a sense of humor and caring. Oh, and there's a ghost in this book as well. Fun!

Another great mystery
This is the second book in the fixer-upper mystery series by Kate Carlisle, featuring home contractor/amateur sleuth Shannon Hammer. This Mistry finds Shannon and in yet other fixer-upper situation, but hits too close to home for her. Shannon's elderly neighbor and friend, Jesse Hennessey has been seen in quite a few days so Shannon immediately decides to check up on him, she finds his home a mess, and him dead. Which is immediately hard for her because he is not only her neighbor but the great uncle best friend Jane. Two-sided bands that happen throughout the novel Is the grand opening of Jane's new business bed-and-breakfast called the Hennessey house, on top of that ghostly shenanigans arrives at the construction job of her friend Emily's new home, which is apparently haunted, I'm not much for the paranormal aspect of cozy mysteries but was able to get through this as well as the book. Other than that I am enjoying this series so far! Especially since the love interest so far has been a well-known mystery writer, who has decided to settle in the small California coastal town but the novel takes place in, and even has decided to write a small town police procedural and/or murder mystery series, with a yet to be discovered protagonist, not only do I enjoy Shannon's lead but every scene with Mac and interesting as he is a mystery writer and helps her with her deductions.

As The Hammer Falls
Its been a while since my first/last visit to the lovely Northern California town of Lighthouse Cove, the home of protagonist Shannon Hammer. Ironically her surname coincides with her livelihood, a coincidence, I think not. Anyway, while it took a while to get cozy with the characters of this lovely series, it was well worth it and I certainly enjoyed this second entry of the series. When last seen, it was Shannon who was the prime suspect, that left us with which of the two handsome men in the book will she fall for. Well, lets just say that while that question may look to be on the way to a resolution in book #2, its still anyone's guess(but it is definitely one of the hooks that keep you coming back for more. Then you have the body counts, the whodunit, and the unending opportunities for the core characters within Shannon's group of friends, begging for future development in the future entries of the Fixer Upper Series- definitely looking forward to those. In the meanwhile, bodies counts build, break in's to the house next door where Shannon's neighbor is the first victim, the whodunit seems obvious, but the evolution of that not so clear, so you stick along for the ride. Its all great fun, engaging(oh that Mrs Higgens is a clever piece of work). I must admit I am a great fan of Kate Carlisle's work, both in this and the Bibliophile series. Come on..get on board with this one, you won't be disappointed.

Charming Town of Lighthouse Cove!
Kate Carlisle takes us back to the charming town of Lighthouse Cove, CA. I really enjoyed getting to know more about the characters in this second book. While Shannon is busy renovating Victorian homes her friends are busy too... Jane is opening a new bed & breakfast, Emily is purchasing a new Victorian home and Mac is busy writing his next bestseller. Oh yea... and then there's the murder! Shannon discovers the dead body of her next door neighbor, Jesse. Who, by the way is Jane's uncle. From there the mystery begins. We are treated to several mysteries in this story. The mysterious death of Jesse and his tall tail about a necklace he found in a ship wreck. And it seems that Emily's new Victorian home is harboring a ghost... Shannon digs into local history to solve the disturbances. There are plenty of suspects and several red herrings. There were spooky moments and several twists and turns. There will be plenty to look forward to in the third book! Will Shannon and Mac's love interest grow or will her friendship with policeman Eric heat up? Will the ghost of Mrs. Rawley continue to haunt Emily's Victorian? Will Mac's lighthouse be the next featured renovation? Will her worst high school enemy Whitney continue to be part of the story? We'll all have to wait and see while we anxiously wait for the next book in this fantastic series!
