Has some flaws, but it's pretty great.
I got this with the intent to use it as a combined laptop bag and purse (to avoid carrying two bags everywhere), and so far it has worked pretty well.-Inside Pockets-There is one roomy interior compartment that easily fits my 15" laptop and a variety of other items (charging cable, travel mouse, tablet, my checkbook wallet). It probably won't fit a laptop much (if any) larger than that, because the zip closure at the top is just a little smaller than the interior pocket, so you have to angle the laptop just a little to get it in (if you have one of those tiny USB extensions for a travel mouse that are flush to the laptop -- the kind that are meant to stay in the USB port at all times -- beware that it can hang on the zipper and get yanked out if you aren't careful about sliding your laptop in). I could pack a lot more items into this compartment than I have been, as it is quite decently sized. There is no included liner for a laptop or tablet. There is also a zippered pocket on the back interior of the bag that is deep enough to hold a small makeup bag with the barest of female essentials (pads and tampons, lipstick, powder, a travel hairbrush), but not much else. I feel like this pocket would be more useful if it was a lot larger. It strikes me as a place you're meant to toss extra keys or change, but there is a lot of wasted interior space (if you're like me, anyway, and don't like everything rattling around loose in your bag).-Outside Pockets-There are two very roomy, zippered bubble pockets on the front, that are revealed when the purse flap is pulled up (as if you are accessing the main compartment). These are fantastic and massively proportioned (I typically keep my smartphone, glasses case, a pistol, a full-size multitool, and a variety of other items in the pockets, with room to spare). On each end is a pocket that is probably meant for a water bottle, but they are built so flush with the bag that, when a laptop is inside the main compartment, it doesn't allow for anything rounded to fit. I feel like this is a poorly designed part of this bag -- these pockets really should have bubbled out like the front two, so you could stick a water bottle in it when there is something wide on the inside. As it is, I use one side to store a knife and taser, and the other side to store clipped pens. The pockets are deep, but they are so flat that they are really not good for much else.Curiously, inside each of these pockets (maybe 1/3 the way down, on the wall connected to the main interior compartment of the bag) is a canvas loop with the male part of a snap button stitched onto the outside of the loop. The female part of the snap is on the opposite wall. They are so far down that I can't imagine they are meant to close these pockets, and I really have no idea what they are useful for. Because the bag lacks any decent place you can clip keys to (if you use a carabiner or eye bolt snap key hook), I just attached a large split ring to one of these loops and am using it for my key snap place instead. Keeps the keys from falling down into the depths of the pocket, but hides them from view.On the back, accessible when the flap is closed, is a long, flat pocket that runs flush with the length of the back of the purse. Because I carry my laptop in the main interior compartment, this keeps this pocket pretty flat, so it is only useful to me for a legal pad, or as an occasional place to quickly stuff my tablet.-Construction-The outside flap is very large, and has velcro hooks on the underside. One large velcro loop pad is on the middle of each exterior bubble pocket, to catch the flap at a variety of bag widths (so if it's very full, you can still close it).The strap is wide and heavy, sewn to the bag at one end and attached via a brass buckle at the other end. It is a long enough strap that it is adjustable to suit any torso size, to lay along the body at whatever height is preferred (thigh, hip, waist, right up under your arm, whatever). The outside is heavy olive green cotton canvas, the inside lining is polyester in the same color. Both are very durably made. Heavy stitching, heavy fabric, heavy zippers. I've been tossing this thing around for over a month with nary even the slightest signs of wear. There are a couple places that had flyaway threads, but that's just from not cutting them off closely enough during the sewing process, and a pair of scissors fixed that right up.-Complaints-I really wish there was some kind of key ring stitched into the main interior compartment. There is enough room at the top edge for it. Alternately, it could go under the large main flap somewhere, or on one side above the water bottle pockets. I'm considering adding this myself. The outside side pockets aren't quite wide enough for a 20 oz water bottle to be inserted into if a 15" laptop is on the inside (this, in my opinion, is the only major failure of the bag). The loops and snap buttons inside them are a little odd, but useful if you improvise. The zippered pocket inside the main interior compartment is too small to be useful to me. It could be improved either by making it larger, or by including two side-by-side interior pockets of the same size, rather than the one in the middle. There is plenty of room for it.-Overall-Large, durable bag. It isn't really designed to carry a laptop, but it'll tide me over until I find something that's perfect. For people who don't carry a lot of stuff, or who have a smaller laptop (like a netbook, or combined tablet/keyboard), this is probably as close to the ideal as you can get in this price range.

Used this bag for about 10 years
I carried this bag back and forth to work for about 10 years, every day. I just bought a second one since after that long obviously there's some frills and holes...but this is the best bag i've ever owned. It is durable, but there's nothing in it to make it stuff, its a cloth canvas bag. So keep that in mind. Fits my laptop with a 17" screen and now I carry my tablet and other stuff in it. Strap is nice and long also.

Much improved version of traditional army messenger bag
This is the third bag of this type I have owned. The first one was the very basic traditional Rothco bag. It was good, but had some issues. Firstly, the strap would always slip loose. I had to manipulate the shoulder strap clip with pliers to try and get it to hold better. But it would still get loose after a while. Secondly, none of the pockets had zippers. They were all open top (the main and the two front). Basically it was a glorified tote bag. Thirdly, there was zero lining of any type. Fourth, the back pocket was too flimsy. And lastly, the material was a very rough cut. I wanted the army roughness look, but today's military gear is much higher quality than the traditional Vietnam era materials. When I went to get another one, I didn't know there was a difference and I accidentally got the Rapid Dominance model. That was far superior to the first. Most importantly, the main compartment and the two front pockets had zippers. The main compartment had a liner. The side pockets had a little snap clasp. The shoulder strap held. The canvas material was a little better too. The back pocket was a little tiny bit bigger, which helps. The snap clasps on the side pockets were so tiny though that I couldn't put my finger in them to pinch it shut. I would have to use two hands and carefully close it. Also, the liner was a thin material that soon ripped. The other issue was that the main flap was kind of thinner than it should be, so it keep rolling over and folding when it would drop down onto the velcro. Overall I was very happy with it though, because it was such a huge improvement over the previous one and I got it by surprise. So, when I accidentally got paint all over the second bag and went to get another one, I looked specifically for the Rapid Dominance bag. I wanted to make sure I didn't get the old style Rothco bag. When I bought this item here, it said "Rapid Dominance", but instead I got the Gravity Trading brand that a bunch of other reviewers had been raving about. It turns out I got lucky again.Overall, the Gravity Trading model is a big improvement over the Rapid Dominance. Firstly, the canvas material seems to be an improvement (even beyond the already improved Rapid Dominance). It is even thicker than RD, but better threading and therefore it is both softer and tougher and lays better.Secondly, the little finger clasps on the side pockets have a bigger space behind them, so I can stick my finger in there and just close it with one hand. This was a big improvement over the RD because having to use both hands was an annoyance.Thirdly, the zippers seem to be a higher quality with better pulls. The zipper teeth are slightly bigger, but they are smoother running too.Fourth, the liner is much much better. It feels like the parachute nylon material. It is much thicker and stronger, but it is also smooth. So, items slide past it without snagging and it doesn't rip or get cut easily.Fifth, the little internal zipper pocket is a little bigger and is double thick use of that same nylon material.Sixth, there are a couple of little slip pockets on the inside of the main compartment. These are quite useful and are made of the same good nylon material. That's it for the improvements. A couple of minor issues:The shoulder strap is a different color than the rest of the bag. I got the olive green bag and the shoulder strap is a different green. You won't notice it immediately (or at least I didn't). They aren't that much different. But once you notice it, it is obvious. It isn't that big of a deal, but it is a fault. The second issue is that for some reason the front pocket openings are a tiny tiny bit smaller. I'm sure the pockets themselves are the same size, but a combination of the bigger zipper and I can see that the little openings on each side of the zipper are a tiny bit bigger. What this caused is that my hand now doesn't really fit inside the pockets anymore. I have to squeeze my hand in and stretch the opening to get them in. It takes a second. The RD bag was a tiny bit bigger. They can easily fix both of those issues I think. It shouldn't be hard to make the front pockets a teenie bit bigger.Other than that it is a great bag. If I had to get another one (which I don't forsee happening since I have a total of 3 now), I would get the GT bag. Although it is hard to order it, it seems since this listing says Rapid Dominance (but they sent me the GT). I guess you can contact the seller and ask them what they are going to send.

Perfect everyday bag
I used this through Junior and Senior year of high school. Absolutely perfect school bag, and great for just general carry too. Only problem is that it does have some slight tearing on the inside lining, but that was because of me putting far too many books in it lol.

Great bag poor zippers
Picked this up for a daily carry, mostly one I bring each day with me to and from work. I use the bag outside of work as well mostly on outings or if I go out in my car. The bag serves me well and has lots of space when needed, I make use of all the pockets.I dislike the zippers very much, the pull tabs don't rotate freely all the time and bind up at funny angles, you have to be very careful opening and closing the zippers as they separate quite easily if you try to use it under even mild tension and on 2 of my pockets I wasn't able to get them to mate up again as it seems the coils were damaged.I also dislike the zippers on the 2 front fairly roomy pockets. The zippers are smaller than the width of the full pocket limiting the entry size such that I struggle to get my hands in them to feel around. (I have quite large hands) I ended up removing the damaged zipper from the bag so I had easier access but dislike how it is open all of the time now as I like to keep my wallet and phone in that pocket.I like the inside pocket, slim but roomy and the back pocket has been useful for a journal or other documents. The two side pockets are great, roomy enough for a standard nalgene bottle and they have snaps which keep things close if extra space isn't needed. I ended up hanging a carabiner on the loop holding the snap and it has worked great for keys and other hangables albeit a little exposed to attention and weather.Shoulder strap is substantial and bears the weight of a loaded bag easily, lots of strap to adjust to any height. If the zippers all around were updated I would use this bag for a very long time!

solide

Really impressed with the quality!
I'm a fan of the Television Series '24' - and the lead actor Keifer Sutherland plays "Jack Bauer". This bag becomes a staple of his character in the later seasons. It is very similar to the one used on the show and it is very versatile. I love the fabric, the bag hangs nice, is very roomy, and can store alot of personal effects. I have a similar bag by Rothco brand, and I'm more impressed with this one by Rapid Dominance :)
