Great, but also McGuire tainted
Once you get past the references to Mark McGuire the book is excellent. The publisher would be smart to eliminate the first chapter, which details how McGuire's attitude changed him from a .201 hitter to a .300 hitting superstar. Of course, now we know that HGH played a hand in the "new" quick bat McGuire displayed in 1998. Unfortunately, this opening chapter can cast doubt on the whole contents of the book.Years ago, when I was playing baseball in high school and college, I remember thinking that if I could just "work as hard" as guys like Brian Downing, Lenny Dykstra, and Rafael Palmeiro, I could get great results. It must be their exceptional attitude and work ethic, I thought. Sadly this was a lie. Men and boys could not work as hard as them -- unless they took drugs like them.

Excellent book!
I wish there were a version of this book for young kids, but the principles are great and work for anybody. I read this to my sons and discuss the important points.
