Great for Nerf battles, and reliable!
This is a great gun. Can be broken down to large handgun size with a magazine. I personally find the clip to be a bit tedious to take off, but the kids just say, "look, like this" and they are fine. My son used it for about an hour yesterday without any issues during our "in the house, in the dark" battle. As the one who was being shot AT with this gun- with darts smacking off the side of the doorway I was creeping along, I can tell you it packs as good a punch as any other, and seems pretty accurate. We have about 12 guns and a slew of mini 2 or 3 shooters. This was his first pick. I like that it's pump action (no motor) and it has not jammed. Price is a bit high at around $30. When I can snag another for $20 or so, I will do it

We love using this gun in our family
We love using this gun in our family! It shoots fast and fairly accurate. It isn't the most accurate nerf gun we have and it doesn't have the most "zing" as our other guns, but man is it fun to unload :) We have 4 other clips that hold 6 bullets each so naturally I use this when me and the kids have our "nerf wars" and I love just goin to town and dropping clips and reloading until I'm all out and I have to run away and try to grab random bullets on the ground as I'm being chased by my kids and being shot at lol. It does sometimes jam, but you kind of know what to look for in the bullets once you load them to prevent jamming (bent bullets will jam it) so we either bend the bullets back or don't use them in this gun. I like to use the gun to its fullest glory with stock and all attached but my son breaks it all down and likes to use it just as a "pistol" with a nice little clip :) All in all pretty good fun addition to our ever growing nerf gun family.

Band bang
Bought 1 set and they were broken. Reached out to company and they sent another set. Worked great for carnival games. Kids loved them.

Classic Nerf Soldier class standard issue blaster.
The Blue Retaliator was my first experience with Nerf guns in 2014, and wow was I impressed. No batteries needed, and yet it launched darts pretty far and with good accuracy for a dart gun. I saw that it gave much better distances on it's shots than it's yellow predecessor (the N-strike Recon). But then this blaster started jamming and I found that the darts start to warp over time and get stuck in the chamber a lot. Also, if you play on dirt, it could get on the darts and rub off in the blaster, possibly causing issues you don't want to occur. I also soon found the barrel extension robbed the blaster of dart range and that it was better off without it, just not better off in the looks department. Today it has a white (and shoddily-painted with a crude blue stripe and lettering) successor which is supposed to be an upgraded version with improved advertised distances, but do the white ones performed better than the blue ones that they replaced? I have a lot more knowledge on Nerf blasters now, and I have since purchased a ProChrono chronograph and have clocked the Retaliators' average dart velocities at 65 FPS (feet per second) with consistent readings from several different Retaliators, including this white one (this is the second of two; the defective one I returned to Amazon because the blaster primed once and got completely stuck halfway into the second prime). I was discouraged to read that the new white and blue "Elite" Retaliator to have worse ratings than the first blue one despite having a longer advertised shooting distance (I thought "shame on you Hasbro, making Nerf a liar"). However, my white Retaliator had an average FPS of 71, making it slightly stronger in this case (blue 65, white 71) and putting up numbers to help back the claim. As an update, Orange Mod Works (OMW), Worker, and Blasterparts have upgrade kits which pushes the limits of this blaster to 100 FPS on my Retaliator(s), and with the stock air restrictor (AR) intact! Others sources state that Retaliators and Rampages seem to perform better on the stock AR. As a warning, this blaster can be irritatingly difficult to modify if you are not good at taking things apart and putting them back together. Also, the internal components are being punished by the upgraded pressure from the 5kg/7kg springs, and aftermarket efforts to reinforce key areas and replacement parts most likely to break are included in their sets. But seriously, with the spring alone this blaster is a beast, it's just that it loses it's control after a while and misfires if primed too hard. Perhaps it is best to leave these blasters stock? Nah.

Gun tends to jam fairly often and the clip was hard to remove.
While the guns work sometimes they tend to jam several times within each12 rd clip usage. It caused a lot of angry outbursts during our family wars. You had to either clear the jammed round from the top when pulling the slide back or remove the clip and do it from the bottom. The clip is quite difficult to remove as well. My 9 year could not remove the clip on either of the two guns I ordered and I had to remove it for her so she could load....and then it would jam. Pretty soon we removed the barrel and clip and would use it as a single shot pistol by cocking the gun and then putting a bullet in from the front one at a time and then firing. To be fair the gun jammed 3 times as much with knock off nerf bullets, but still jammed at least once per clip with the included official nerf rounds. My kids like the Nerf Rival guns better with the round bullets as they never seemed to jam.

Cool but meh
It’s a cool looking gun that I think is one of my all time favorite nerf guns but.. the internal spring lacks in power but if you buy a 7$ spring then it should be ok. I like the modding you can do with the blaster to make it better but it costs a bit. But in total it’s a decent blaster that just needs modifications

Perfect gift
Our grandson was delighted with this. It is much better quality than many toys being made. The plastic is heavy and the ball sails through the air. It was a perfect birthday.
