Favorite Model From My Favorite Brand
I've owned dozens of Casios, ranging from the most basic G-Shocks to the $1000+ MT-G G-Shock as well as Triple Sensor Pro Treks and basic retro digitals. And this model is my favorite. The new Frogman combines the best feature of all of the above in a very attractive, highly durable and relatively affordable package. This newer version Frogman is also Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6 atomic synched, plus it offers the basic stopwatch, timer, alarm, moon and tide features and an ISO-rated 200 meter professional diver rating.Combined, these attributes create the perfect sport watch, in my opinion. The only qualification I'll make is that the GWF-1000-1JF is LARGE. So if you have wrists smaller than about 7.5 inches, this may be too much for you. Mine are 7.75 and I feel like it's about as large as I can reasonably wear. It's not so much the weight or case diameter, but more the vertical lug to lug dimension that limits its fit for smaller wrists. And the height is pretty substantial at 18mm. So keep that in mind.Above all, if you can manage the size, this model will serve you well. I've only had mine a while, but I think it will likely serve me well for years and years.

Best G shock I have owned
I have owned gshocks for over 30 years. From mudman to rangeman. To the original square. The steel back and core means strength and longevity. The band is super comfortable. Love the moon display. Back light is the best. Easy to view face. Worth the extra money to have a watch of this build.Hiked 6 days straight the first week I had it. Enjoyed it. The first coworker I say when I first wore it said that’s a frogman. I replied. That is correct with pride.

not just for divers
Yes this is a dive watch and what guy doesn't like dive watches. It is large and a little heavier that many Casio's but it will become part of your wrist after a while. The stainless construction and screw back make it heavier than the Titanium one but not at all cumbersome. It has Atomic time keeping , tide function , and many of the functions that guys like and find useful. The band is tough and the crystal is protected well. It has the industrial look and yet can be worn at functions just as well. I am not a diver and if I were I believe I would use something else in the analog department but guys do use these and like them within their limits. They are tough beyond what most guys will ever need and I have seen the tests the Japanese have done with these watches. They have boiled them and tested them to 1000 ft and they still function perfectly and look good. Yes they cost too much , but you will own it for years and maybe give it to your son and he will use it for years and so on. I have many watches and usually buy Citizen , but you wont go wrong with this tough stylish go anywhere time piece.

A statement piece
I waited to review this one after I had a chance to wear the watch for a few weeks. Honestly it is not a comfortable watch for me as my wrists are not that large but I also own a GX56 (The king) which also is a large G-Shock. This watch is a beast with the metal case and screw back along with the shear size. While it is not the best fit on me I enjoy wearing it as one of the best watches that Casio makes. So my 5 star rating is purely based on the fact this is a statement piece but also the toughest of the tough G-Shocks out there.

NICE BUT OVER RATED
Ok it is a pretty nice watch but I am not thrilled about the very low volume of the alarms and hourly beep. It is nowhere near the level of my GD350 and I was hoping to replace it for work. I will though wear it as my casual off work watch. I also cannot get it connected with the atomic clock but that is no big deal. I tried it with DST on auto and on and the battery is full but no luck. Could be my location. I now just have it off and manually sync the time every few days (it does keep good time). Since I got this at a fairly nice price, I am going to keep it, plus I do not want to lose 50% by returning it (I will never order from Japan again). I just don’t understand all the hype but then I don’t really use the tide functions which is it’s main function in life. The moon phase is kinda cool. It is a very solid watch and although very big, sits comfortably on my average to small wrist. I have no issue with the backlight, it lights the entire screen (some G Shocks do not) and there is no problem reading it in low light conditions. All in all, a very nice watch IF you can nab it at a decent price.

I love this watch!
Been checking this out for years and finally decided to buy it. As expected of G Shocks, the watch is well built and feels solid on the wrist. The buttons are big and easy to press.I only rely on the time telling and timer functions and they work great. Other functions like the tide graph are nice to have in my case. The upcoming model GWF-D1000 (June 2016) will feature more useful dive features like water temperature and depth measurements, but this has a nicer face design in my opinion and is the last model to have EL backlight.

No idea why the digital frogman was discontinued in US
Frogman is my favorite Master of G G-shock.It’s such a great watch not just for divers but also fishing. The tide tables have been really accurate after an initial setting. The internal WWWV receiver is the best of any G-shock I’ve owned. It reliably syncs every nights. I haven’t had an issue.
