WB44K5012 OVEN BAKE ELEMENT GE KENMORE HOTPOINT

I was terrified when I realized that I needed to replace the element, but after some research online, I gritted my teeth and ordered this part and took on the job myself. I am giving this a five star review because the part fit exactly as it should, it came early and is roughly 60% cheaper than the one Sears sells. I got it today and had it in the over working within 15 minutes (Here is a good step by step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgkPWkVUcF8 that's not my video). I expect this to last for 20 years, so I reserve the right to come back if it gives out too soon some time in the future.WARNING! This is a pretty easy DIY job but you are working with 220 current (not regular 110) which can destroy your oven, hurt you very badly or quite possibly kill you dead if you so not respect it. YOU MUST kill the power to the range. Either unplug it, turn off the breaker or BOTH. When the oven is OFF the hot wire are still hot! So don't think that having it off makes it safe! So one of three things are going to happen if you have not turned off the current to the oven. ONE, you will brush the hot lead to the side of the oven as you are pulling out the old element (think the Operation game) this will INSTANTLY weld the lead to the oven chamber (which is grounded) and then you will call an electrician to undo the damage to your oven and possibly the breaker. This is the BEST outcome. TWO, if you manage to NOT touch the lead to the oven wall you will touch it while resting on your elbows and 220 volts of electricity will run from your hand to your elbow and you are on your way to the emergency room where they MIGHT save your arm. (this is the second best outcome). THREE, you will be resting on your right hand while you pull the lead with you left and the current will run from your left hand to your right hand right through your HEART and this is will kill you dead. So BE SAFE and unplug and/or shut down the breaker and be SURE there is no juice going into the range (the clock should be out, the burners should all be dead). Be Safe!

My oven stopped heating up, although the broiler still worked. I figured it was the element that went out, seeing as it's over 15 years old. I checked my model number on GE's website and found the part, along with the outrageous price they were asking for it. So of course, I shot straight over to Amazon and put in the part number and found this beauty right here, at the right price. I ordered it and it came a couple days earlier than what I was expecting, which is a good thing since I was getting tired of running out to the grill to "bake" my dishes. The hardest part about the whole experience was installing the thing, mostly because it's dark inside an oven, especially since you've got to cut the power to it so you don't get shocked into next week. And all I had was my little LED dollar store special flashlight.So I get down on my hands and knees with the flashlight between my teeth and I unscrew the old element, making sure to pull the wires far enough out so they wouldn't fall back behind the oven. The new element plugged right up and screwed into place just as nicely as the original. Now I have to adjust my baking times a little because the new element heats more evenly than the old one did.

I needed to replace my oven heating element as it was broken in about three pieces. Called around to several appliance stores and got prices between $40.00 and $70.00. Knowing that was too much, I checked online and found this element. The price is right and shipping was extremely fast!!!! As others have said, when replacing, make sure the power is completely off to the oven. I unplugged my oven and replaced this in a matter of 30 minutes. Also, make sure you grab the prongs from the other end of the oven or you may lose them. I really didn't think I could replace this but it was so easy!!!! If you are searching for an oven heating element, then search no more. This is the way to go.

I actually had the bend the terminals upward where the power 240-volt hooks to this element to keep it from contacting the metal surface and shocking anybody or shorting the circuits out the ears were the terminals in electrical hooked to the element are longer than the original equipment therefore you have to bend them to almost a 90°

I did a lot of research before ordering this oven bake element and came to the conclusion that I would rather pay half of what it is selling for in the retail stores for by ordering it on Amazon. It is exactly the same as what the retail stores stock but at a fraction of the price, in most cases 50% cheaper or more. The part was mailed quickly and arrived in excellent condition due to the packaging. I would recommend this oven bake element to anyone in need of one.

Great replacement unit. Had to fix my oven after a Thanksgiving vacation breakdown. Works like a charm....and like my header reads, anybody can perform this repair. Just check YouTube. My oven is older and I had to do a little more than what you see on YouTube vids but it was still an easy repair, overall. You can't go wrong, really.

This element was perfect all around. Affordable, shipped quickly and most of all FUNCTIONING. My parent's oven element blew about 3weeks ago. The didn't have the funds to repair so I did some youtubing and some research for parts, came across this listing and took a chance. I'm glad I did! Waited a week before I rated to assure the piece worked properly and so far so good. I could not be happier!
