Great idea but didn't fit right
I have an R56 and for some reason this didn't fit well. It's not that I don't know how to install it because the replacement I purchased from Amazon does fit better. May be I just got one that didn't pass QC.

Just accept phone holder is junk.
The metal bracket is perfect. The phone holder is junk. Toss the phone holder and buy B08B3KCYMD from Amazon. Yes you just spent $45, but it is a solid phone mount system now. I have it on the left even though the image shows to mount on the right. Either way works. Mounted on my 2009 Clubman.

I received the product relatively quick but there were no instructions with the item to install it plus the phone holder was extremely small.

Good Value
If you own a Mini you know how expensive accessories can be. This is a rare exception. It looks good and fits right on the back of the speedometer. It provides a good solution for mounting a phone to be used as a GPS navigator.

Brittle plastic parts prone to breakage.
The main body is made of sturdy metal but the clamp is brittle plastic. I've had it for a few weeks and while tightening the pivot nut on the back it broke in half. It is now unusable.
