Generic but usable build quality; could not be used due to missing part
I was looking for a CD-slot phone holder and this item was appealing because of it's low price and the fact that it uses Arkon-standard four-slot prongs to connect to the phone holder. There are many phone, GPS and other accessories that use this style of connection so I thought it would be useful to have another means of connecting the existing holders that I already have. Also, I have seen some inductive "Qi" charging holders that use this connector and thought that I would be able to get one of those and use it with this mount.I received the mount packaged in a small cardboard box. The quality of the CD mount is decent and the design is very similar to the Mountek design at a lower price. While the plastic molding is not at a premium level, it looks clean and would do the job. The fins of the mount slide into your CD player slot and a thumbscrew spreads the fins apart to tighten the fit. I found the thumbscrew a bit too long so that it was hard to get your fingers behind it to tighten because it was nearly pressed against my dashboard. I wish the screw length was a bit shorter. The phone holder device is typical for these types of generic holders: workable but a kind of klutzy in its looks because it is designed to accomdate basically every type of phone or device. There are two "wings" that spread out when you press a button, then you can squeeze them back together and it ratchets in until it is tight around your device. While it is flexible, it doesn't look very clean or neat.In my case, one crucial piece was missing: the ring that tightens around the ball to prevent the swivel mount from moving. Without this, the mount won't stay on the swivel ball so it can't be used. I did contact the seller (#1 Tech Pros) but they didn't respond so I had to return the item for a refund. My quest for a a CD slot mount holder continues.

Good materials, with design flaws...
The item is built pretty decent compared to others I've seen however there are some two critical design flaws.1. There is a really long screw as you can see from the stock photos that are actually longer than it looks. It's used to put pressure on the CD slot to help hold it stable. The idea is good, but I found the screw to be longer than it really needs to be. Depending on your dash, this could get in the way of other dash function. On my Audi S4, it wasn't that big of an issue.2. The biggest issue with it is the cup and ball design of the swivel where the mount connects to the device holder. I found that it doesn't allow you do tighten it down enough to get a really good secure fit. I had to undo it and put a couple layers of paper to give it some extra girth. Without it being tight enough, every time I went to rotate the holder, it would rotate at the cup and ball instead of the the part that should actually be rotating. The screw that tightens the cup and ball is metal, but the part you handle to tighten it is plastic and I stripped it as I was tightening this down.Overall, after I put the paper in it, I'm very happy with it. It's a clever idea to use the CD slot since no one ever buys CDs anymore. One thing I would watch out for is to make sure the phone isn't going to block what you need to get at.

Sort of fits Mini Cooper Countryman
I bought this because it seemed like the best fit for my Countryman. The dash has all kinds of curves so I couldn't place anything on top and the only other best option would be to put a suction cup on the speedometer, but then it would cover the speedometer. Though it does fit into the cd player, the piece isn't quite long enough that rests inside, so it isn't as stable as I hoped it would be. The weight of the phone brings the whole piece down and even though it's adjustable, it doesn't quite steady it. So far though it hasn't completely fallen off so it works alright. I guess you get what you pay for.

Stopped working effectively in the summer heat
I got this during the fall of last year and until recently had yet to have any real problems with it until now. Now that it is summer and the interior of my car gets hotter, the plastic flexes more and the mount won't stay in place. I think if the parts that slide into the CD slot were longer it might partially resolve the issue, but I also understand that that might interfere with some CD players so I don't know if there is a viable solution (other than making it out of something less likely to be affected be high temps). The other problem, as stated by others, is that the ball hinge tends to slip, especially if the roads you drive on aren't as smooth as butter. This could be a good solution for some, but definitely not for me.

Not too bad
This fits in my 2012 Versa perfectly. The bolt that tightens the slot insert is pretty long, but its not absurd. When you slide the holder into the cd slot and tighten, it stays in there very well. I pulled on mine and it didnt come out at all. BUT! This isnt that great if you live on bumpy roads. The holder flexes a lot with bumps. But, it wont come loose, it just moves a whole lot.

Decent, but a bit in the way
I actually wedged the CD slot mount part between the trim around the radio bezel and the dashboard, rather than in the CD slot.It did not fit or clamp in well to a Kenwood tuner / CD player with removable face -- the plastic tongue on the mount wasn't long enough to penetrate past the removable face on the tuner. However, for the price and convenience, I'd say it's a good buy.

Great!!
I ordered the mount Sunday and received it Thursday!! It does what it say it should do and fits all my devices. I use it for my samsung galaxy s4 and it has held it in place so far. It has a swivel ball that allows you to turn the device whichever direction that works best for you and the little pegs on the bottom are great to because the phone does fall out.

Great for the right car stereo
I've been using this phone holder for about 6 months now and really love it.It is sturdyIt holds the phone securelyYou can mount/unmount your phone one-handedIt releases easilyMind you, there are things you should know:- The mount will only be as sturdy as your stereo is. If your car's system is wobbly in it's place then so will your phone be.- Depending on your system you could have this mount cover up or interfere with knobs and display screens. I really can't see my stereo's screen anymore but since I stream all my music and news from my phone it is not something I miss.
