Cool Old School Pedals
We picked up an old Western Flyer for a cheap price but it needed a lot of repairs. These fit the era of the of the bike and was glad we could find a style that fit the bike. Seems to be a quality set and I had no problem treading them on to the cranks. Good fit, great price, happy customer.

MFG Doesn't Know How Ball Bearings Work
Manufacturer, maybe some E-clips on the ends of the rivet and charge an extra $.50 if you have to?Pedals came so stiff that I could barely rotate one by hand and the other took way too much effort. In order to adjust the bearings, the pedal has to be taken apart, but it's not designed to be taken apart (that's "lifetime" grease in those unadjustable open races!). What I had to do was grind off the end of the rivets and replace them with carriage bolts (I guess they didn't have to be carriage bolts, but they look appropriate). The rivets are 1/8" diameter, but the only bolts I could get long enough were 1/4", so I had to drill everything out. Then I had to file square holes into the outside plate for the carriage bolt heads, instal lock nuts on the other end, and cut off the excess threads. I get that these aren't being sold for an intended application that will see a lot of use for a long time, but if they're not going to be adjustable, they should at least come adjusted somewhere in the ball park of right or only charge about $6. I think it's especially egregious because these are likely to end up on casual bikes ridden by non-mechanically minded people who wouldn't know how to fix the inherent manufacturing flaw or couldn't be bothered to do so. Maybe they just want to dress up a bike after picking up riding for the first time since they were kids and they'll find riding a drag (pun intended), possibly dissuading them from riding altogether, and these end up in a landfill prematurely. It's like selling a car with four flat tires and expecting you to patch them before you leave the lot. Cheap car or not, that's not acceptable as it should at least function at a basic level. Other than that flaw, they're totally fine.
