Very good transaction. The dealership wanted $300 for this + $200 for the install. The install is very easy and can be researched on how to remove the motor here. http://www.evilution.co.uk/719 I did this on the 451 smart car. The instructions here make it seem more difficult than it really is. They show a picture of the battery, etc. You do not have to expose the battery to get to the fan on the 451 smart car. They also show on another page a procedure for cleaning the commutator strip. I tried that but did not have any luck getting the fan to function properly doing that and finally just replaced it. You do have to lay on your back and kind of work by feel. The hardest part I found was getting the electrical connector off. Just use a flat blade screwdriver to release the tab and the connector will come right out. I had it out a couple of times and like everything else in life the second time was much easier.This saved nearly $300 over what the dealership wanted and if that is important it is not that difficult to do.

Perfect fit for my 2009 Smart fortwo. Fixed the problem of fan not coming on occasionally and changing speeds. Easy to replace.
