Inward Revolution: Bringing About Radical Change in the World

Practical Spirituality At Its Best
Jiddu Krishnamurti has been one of the formative influences in my own life. I still have a paperback edition of some of his lectures that I devoured as a fifteen year old. He had enormous personal presence and the clarity of his teaching was amazing. The Dalai Lama described him as one of the greatest philosophers of the age, and I can only agree. This book is one of my favorites. Krishnamurti was always a practical philosopher: his interest was in taking spirituality and making it a part of our day-to-day existence. The book begins with the premise that if we are to bring about meaningful change in the world, then we first have to change ourselves: outward change will only occur in response to the way in which we perceive things inwardly. One of the most attractive things about his work is that he always said that we should not rely on the authority of other people, because we come into this world equipped with an innate capacity to discern truth. Much of his teaching revolved around ways to reconnect with that ability. The book is based on a series of lectures - most with some questions and answers - so there is some repetition. That being said, if anything the repetition is useful: some of his concepts may seem abstract the first time that you come across them. He covers many topics, from ways to live in harmony, to freedom, love and perception. With clarity and compassion, Krishnamurti teaches us something that I am sure is true: if enough of us change the structure and dynamics of our thinking and our emotions, we can bring about radical transformations in the way in which our society deals with conflict, poverty, inequality and war. If we carry on the same way that we have for the last few thousand years, then no amount of technological innovation will save us.The good news is that there is already evidence that many of us are changing and developing rapidly. This book is a great help along the way.Highly recommended.

RIGHT ON!
Each chapter [lecture] is a variation, and one step deeper than the previous. The repetition is effective in a meditation-in-action way. By the end of the book, a feeling of self-empowerment on the spiritual (and logical) level definitely occurred for me. This book should be read without too much intensity, as the logic will integrate itself in a tangible way, naturally; however, try to read only one chapter per day or two, so that the proper reasoning can internalize and be used (by adding the Right Conscious Effort as often as possible) as a truly practical approach to developing personal confidence (facing and accepting fears) in seeing the world truthfully, learning to avoid habitual reactions, and to wake up in order to live life in the most meaningful and enlightened way. Just remember to make this book a guide to Right Understanding and Action, not to use it as just another intellectual exercise.

Review of his last book - which is elegant and sutble yet clear in it's message if you are seeking truth you might find it here
If you are a serious seeker of the truth then this book is for you. Krishnamurti puts forth the truth in a very straight forward manner, or rather he gets his listeners to bring it forth from their interactions with him. He wants the listener or reader to discover it for themselves rather than him telling them what it is. Very thought provoking and evocative, as it causes you to really see what you value and are you really willing to give up all your prejudices and preconceived notions to find out what the truth is. It is not a religious treatise at all, it's a very human approach to understanding what is real and what is not. It then leads you to the Ultimate truth that exists and has always existed. He does not label God or anything else as he believes that limits the unlimited. Over the years, I've read almost all of his works and believe this is the pinnacle of his extensive works, and thus enjoyed it very much. It is humbling to be able to read the thoughts of such a great being as earth was blessed with his presence.

This should be required reading.
If you've ever felt alone because *you* feel compassion and nobody else seems to... this person understood. The change can start with one person, but needs to start within.

Change your thinking, change the world
With simplicity and clarity Krishnamurti tells us that we can live a meaningful life in a chaotic world. With profound understanding he provides instructions on how we can achieve this through observing our very own selves and through questioning what is rather than following blindly the modus operandi of our insane world. Changing ourselves and, in doing so, changing the world around us is infinitely simpler than we think, provided we know how to go about it.Inward revolution can be achieved through stilling the mind. Inward Revolution: Bringing About Radical Change in the World , like all other writings and talks by Krishnamurti is a guide that helps us to listen, observe, perceive and to question. Through this we can find the truth, redirect our energy and become free from what it is that we think imprisons us in our daily existence.

GREAT
Great book. One of Krishnamurti classics. In depth discussions of many of the core elements of his teachings. Fantastic. Highly recommended. But read it with a grain of salt -- DO NOT BELIEVE what it says. EXAMINE it for yourself and find out if the things said are true or not. If they are you've found them first hand. If not, you can discard them. It takes patience if this is your first K book, to get familiar to the terminology and the approach...

Esoteric Reality.
J Krishnamurti is a most profound and prolific identifier of all that needs to change within the human psyche. Reading any series of talks by him tends to instigate radical change within the listener/reader.Inward revolution is remarkable in that any reader, with the tiniest interest in change, will come away from this experience with a hugely altered understanding of what awareness actually means.Jiddu Krishnamurti is a guide through the maze of false identity/ies,leading to a genuine understanding of the true meaning of meditation. It would be pointless for me to continue writing about this book, please read J Krishnamurti and unfold the potential within.

Inward Revolution = Outward Revolution
A collection of transcripts of 14 lectures given between December 1970 and February 1971. Krishnamurti, the Punk rock, Kung fu, anti-guru, continues his attack on the misuse of, thought, meditation and authority, whilst promoting self-observation as the only way out of the horrors of inward and outward human existence. Intelligence has been annihilated by thought, he posits, which wastes energy through fragmenting the inner and outer world for utility and pleasure and is permanently engaged in chasing the illusion of security and permanence. The same themes as most of his books, from what I can gather, although he does find new ways of communicating the same messages, you find yourself knowing which direction the script is going most of the time, which is fine if you need his ideas reinforcing or you haven't just finished one of his other books...which I had. As I've only read three of his books I'm not really in a position to comment on how this volume compares with the multitude of others. It's shorter than "The Awakening of Intelligence" but less diverse and it still takes considerable effort to read for no apparent reason, which may be you're dull thought based habituated mind protesting at the usurping of its authority...I don't know. Anyway the pattern that is emerging is that the transcripts of his lectures are very loosely grouped around a common theme but as the root of most problems have the same cause the conversations inevitably end on the same ground, albeit via different paths.

The cover design is the best thing about it
If it were possible to assign zero stars - that is the evaluation I would assign this tome. A ' New Age ' bit of pomposity that repeats the same thing ad nauseam; it treats the reader akin to the village idiot. This ' book ' is not worth the paper it is written on.The cover design is the best thing about it . I retuned my copy
