The science behind "fasting." A great read and plan.
The 5:2 Diet is very simple and straightforward: Five days of regular meals a week and two nonconsecutive days of fasting within that week. Now, many readers may find this diet to be part of the myriad of other mainstream fad diets that pollute the media. When I first picked up the book, I too felt skeptical and doubted it was worth the read until I skimmed through the introductory passages and the scientific evidence sections backing the 5:2 Diet. There are a few things a reader should know before purchasing this book: the diet guidelines in the book MUST be followed. The meal plans and guidelines are quite simple for the diet but the timing of the fasts must be consistent. Any successful diet requires a bit of preparation and discipline and the 5:2 Diet has the easiest I’ve ever seen from any of the other diets I’ve read about in the past. There are no strange “miracle” meals to eat or complicated meal schedules that take up you’re time and money. This diet book revolves around the science of fasting at the correct time while eating a balanced diet. For anyone here looking for a diet that is worth their time, I suggest you look up the scientific evidence behind the 5:2 Diet and most importantly, the act of fasting itself before purchasing the book if you have any doubt. The book does a very nice job of explaining the diet, providing scientific evidence, answering FAQs, and giving tips on how to establish a framework for your weight loss goals. The book also provides a very long list of recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Remember, fasting is key.

Confusing
Just read my new book. Yet another diet to try! However some of the recipes that are for fasting days seem very calorofic considering you're only supposed to have 500 cals on those days.... porridge with raisins and cinnamon 491 calories per serving? 9 calories for the rest of the day?????? If someone could explain I would be grateful?
