It works!!!
Used this to dye a pair of army surplus rucksack straps. Used this color together with another to produce a much darker hue to match my environment…. It really worked better than l had expected. Need to follow instructions to the letter… especially the water temperature. Preparation is key… better to use a portable stove snd the process done outside the kitchen… because it will be rather messy. Truly value for money and effective results! Let’s see how long will will the color hold in the field…

Rit DyeMore to the Rescue for Dance Costume
I needed a dance costume in emerald green, which is a color nearly impossible to find. So I decided to buy the costume pieces in white and dye them. The material of the costume is 80-90% nylon, and 10-20% spandex, depending on the pieces. I first decided to try Rit All-Purpose Dye, color Emerald Green, and I used the sink method. While the mesh skirt turned out the way I had hoped, the top did not. Even after soaking for over an hour and using 2 bottles of dye, it turned out too light and had a bluish hue, which you can see on the left side of the picture I have attached. Before giving up hope, though, I called Rit's Customer Service line to ask if I could dye over what I did with the Rit DyeMore, color Peacock. The representative, who was super nice and helpful, said yes. Also, I did not need to remove the Emerald coloring either, since it was lighter and I wanted to make it a deeper green. For the Rit DyeMore, you have to do the stove top method; that is the only option. I was nervous to say the least, but it worked perfectly, and I cannot be happier with how it turned out. It is the perfect shade of green and exactly what I wanted (the right side of the picture attached).

Color didn't really match the bottle
The dyeing process was a success, but I felt that the color didn't match the color of the bottle. The fabric is more of a lime green color, which has more yellow than the color on the bottle. I may redye it.

Worth It
I had an old dress that had some stains on the white of the dress that would just not wash out. I figured I’d just try dying it. It worked out great! I love them! The original dress is on the left.

To Dye For!!
The media could not be loaded. I’m in love with the results! Initially, I was skeptical, but the Rit website has custom color recipes which significantly helped. The shoes I dyed have both natural and synthetic fibers, so I mixed 2 batches of solution, one with the traditional Rit liquid dye (for naturals), and one with Rit Dyemore (for synthetics). I added and mixed both dyes to the hot water bath (on the stove) with about 2 teaspoons of dishsoap, and approximately 2 teaspoons of salt. The shoes changed colors (in phases) with time, and honestly I love the in-between colors as well, but wanted to see the color batch fully mature as planned. After about 35 minutes of dyeing, I rinsed with hot water and a bottle of Rit Color Fixative, then continued to rinse until the water ran clear. I tossed the shoes in the washer with some detergent on cold, and tumble dried on very low for a few minutes followed by air dry. I couldn’t be happier with the results. I’m definitely going to do this again very soon!

does not work on natural fabrics
i had an antique chair that originally was pink and i wanted teal. i bought teal dye and put that on- so easy!- you heat the water HOT , dump in the dye, and paint it on- outside!i didn't know what the fabric, a velvet, was made of, so i bought the dye for man-made fabrics, which typically are harder to dye. it did nothing. so i tried OHE NIRE TIME, this time i used the dye for natural fabrics- worked beautifully!you don't have to spend a lot of money on upholstery, if you just want to change the color. just use dye. this is my fifth chair i've redone and i'm so pleased with them

Loved how this project turned out!
Honestly my dye project (sweater) turned out so well that I am looking for the next project! This color is just so rich - a beautiful jewel tone that I was immediately obsessed with. Perfect for those whose skin tone falls into the winter palettes. Word of advice: follow the directions and use the stovetop. I had another dye project that didn’t turn out nearly as well because I didn’t keep the water hot enough.
