Does EXACTLY what it's designed for-read the item TITLE! (Not for kefir, folks!) someone else had UNFAIRLY left a bad review saying this lid didn't strain his kefir... Seriously?! There is a separate set of lids for that with KEFIR in the title of that product. This one is just for KOMBUCHA and performs very well--keeps the bugs out, lets oxygen in. That's it. Simple, Perfect, Love it! No more wet sticky coffee filters and irritating broken rubber bands for me. :)

These are great, they fit perfectly and nice quality.

I just started making kombucha. These lids are easy to use and clean, and are effective in keeping fruit flies out of the mason jars. My only ding would be that it’s hard to find gallon jars that have the standard wide-mouth top, so I split my batches into half-gallon jars in order to use the lids.

An unconventional use, but I have used these for raising fruit flies for my frogs for over a year now. I hate the plastic waste of the typical fruit flies plastic deli cups, and this allows me to use a wide mouth mason jar instead. They have held up to numerous washings and no flies have ever escaped. However, mites will make their way in(as is the case usually anyway) so make sure you use diatomaceous earth or some other anti-mite method. I'm planning to use them now for raising small live foods for my fish.

Love these for making water kefir. They are so much nicer than using coffee filters.

Product arrived quickly and packaged nicely in a small cardboard box. Fit and finish was very nice with scratches or burrs on any of the plastic lid rings or metal screens. Unfortunately they didn't fit any of my wide mouth mason jars. I tried several different jars from different manufacturers and the lid rings were too small to fit onto any of my jars to be screwed on. The rings were probably off by about 2mm to 4mm. I'm not sure if it is my jars or the rings, but sadly I have to return these. I really want to used these for making Kefir, but I guess I will have to keep using paper towels with rubber bands for now.

Much easier than using cheese cloth or coffee filters. Have put them through the dishwasher at least 20 times since I purchased them and they show no signs of wear.

these are amazing , i bought the other ones you see for sale that let your jar breath but the stick up and extra 2 inches above the jar, these sit flat on top of the jar, so they take no extra room and they do a great job letting your jar breath.

The only reason I bought the "kit" was to get instructions. They are not included. Ebook is confusing.

I haven't tried them for kombucha, however, I have some sourdough starter in a mason jar. Works beautifully, and better than coffee filters for the top. Highly recommend these for maintaining sourdough starter!!
