Finally got around to using these today. I have to admit that I am not the neatest at painting my nails, and often get a bit of a wobble on (especially when painting my right hand with my left), so I had great hopes of these little masks. Firstly, they are really tricky to put on one handed, and once you have one hand masked up, the second hand is almost impossible to do, because the masks from the first hand stick to the masks you are trying to fix to the second! They are also very stretchy and sticky, so if you are not careful they curl up as you are trying to put them on. Eventually with the assistance of my husband, I managed to get both hands masked ready to paint. I painted my nails, taking a little less care than I would have normally, to be fair, but I wanted to make sure that if I did end up splurging a bit over the cuticle, the mask would mean that I didn't have varnish on my skin when finished. This is not to say that I whacked varnish everywhere willy-nilly- just that if I went over the edges a bit, I wasn't that worried - this is, after all, the whole point of this product. Once the varnishing was done (I was using OPI infinite shine, so there were three varnishes to go on), I peeled off the masks. Disappointingly, it didn't matter whether I peeled off from the top or bottom of the nail - each and every nail had a layer of varnish pulled up with the mask, and consequently peeled off with the mask. The nails looked worse than if I'd asked a toddler to do it for me. What a disappointment. I would not recommend this product for use with a 3-layer system. I wonder if one was just painting a single layer varnish and taking the masks off whilst the varnish was still wet, whether it might be more effective, but as I don't have any single use, one layer varnishes, this product is not any good for me.

Super useful if you are clumsy painting your nails, this will definitely help you! Since I bought it, my nails are always perfect. Incredibly recommended!

Great concept and I had high hopes, as I’m so clumsy when painting my nails. If you can get these on perfectly, then they’ll work well. However they are incredibly flimsy so more times than not you won’t be able to apply them perfectly. I don’t think it’s really necessary for them to be as sticky as they are, it makes them quite hard to work with! If you can get someone to help you apply then it might be easier but this isn’t always an option! I’d look elsewhere first for any other options.. ones that aren’t as sticky/tacky!

Unfortunately using these by yourself is pretty much a no. Takes 2 people.

Not great for gel nails. If you go over the edge onto the protector/guide and cure the polish, it hardens onto it, making it impossible to remove the protector. I had to scrape it off using a tool and then do an extra layer of top coat.

Completely useless. Would be better of using sellotape
