about the fictional design of somebody like Hitler and or Czar Nicholas II and in the ...
I do not think this novel by Faulkner is really a work of art but it is interesting.Personnaly I prefer novels by Norman Mailer. The last one I read from Mailer, also from Amazon, was "The Castle in the Forest", about the fictional design of somebody like Hitler and or Czar Nicholas II and in the future people like the dynasty of Matos's, a fiction book Norman never wrote. The novel by Eduardo Giudice Kutz's Screams, also from Amazon is quite a thrilling story too.In other words, novels have to bring something crazy to us, mixed to normal reasonings.

three good novels in one book
This volume of Faulkner's novels is a very good bargain. Two of the books The Town and The Mansion are part of the Snopes family trilogy. The Hamlet being the first novel. The three together tell the story of a family's grasping for wealth and power by any means and the destruction of the family by one of its own members. The third vilume, The Reivers is a funny and entertaining story of young boys on an adventure that begins with stealing a car and go to Memphis. and find out the seamy side of life.

The two last volumes of the Snopes Trilogy
I recommend this book for the two last volumes of the Snopes Trilogy. I don't think I have ever read such a romantic story as the love story between Gavin Stevens, the lawyer and Linda Kohl Snopes, the supposed child of Flem Snopes. I think this was written when Faulkner was mature and this is very emotional. The Reivers, the third book is funny but not as good as the Town and the Mansion which have to be read sequentially to get a complete story.

From Work To Wealth, The Snopes Saga
It is too bad that the first novel "The Hamlet" is not included (it appears in an earlier volume of this excellent series of The Library Of America) with "The Town" and "The Mansion" in this wonderful tale of growth and maturity of the outcast Snopes clan to a Snopes family of civic prominence. The three novels need to be read in their order to feel the strength of uneducated and poor individuals struggling for opportunities to better themselves, successfully, to claim the privileges of wealth that only the aristocracy of landowners enjoy. This is the new Yoknapatawpha County of automobiles and areoplanes. The old wilderness of the bear hunters was long ago paved over for speed. "The Reivers" is a long hearty laugh at innocence in a whore house. Told from a boy's viewpoint, the action is very adult and funny as adults pursue their urges for sex and gambling. The horse race is a fine piece of sustained Faulkner writing. Buy this book. It is a keeper.

The two final novels of the Snope Trilogy
I found this easier to read than previous William Faulkner's novels. I liked very much the love story of Gavin Stevens, the lawyer, and Linda Kohl Snopes, the supposed child of Flem Snopes. I rarely read something as romantic as this story. I learned that the Snopes Trilogy is in print in a French translation, but I think it is better to read the original
