Q: any tips on how to tighten it better? The screw is tight as can go but the hoop itself is still loose so it pops off.

I have used a screwdriver to tighten it - it works every time for me. There is an indentation on the screw into which a small screwdriver will fit. Hope it helps you.

Q: What is the depth of these hoops? I need to be able to get it under a sewing machine foot?.
