Seinnheiser CX300
Always bought Sennheiser inwar headphones for iPod and other portable devices as well as home Gigi. Quality of build and sound with this pair did not disappoint. Snug fit using smaller earplugs (x3 sizes supplied) meant that noise cancellation was effective and sound stage clear throughout the treble, mid range and bass. In fact the bass response for a pair of earphones at this price is impressive. Good value and great performance

This is the third pair of Sennheiser CX300's I've had, the second CX300 mk II's. I recently trod on my current favourite earphones (DOH!) and I wanted a cheap alternative while I saved up for replacements. The CX300II is a lightweight, no fuss in-ear phone, supplied with three soft silicon ear beads that fit securely over the flanges built in to the body of the phones themselves. They're easy to get on and off, but one they're on, I've never had a problem with them falling off, even with the fairly rough treatment I give these. The sound quality is not up to the reference phones I usually use, but for around £30, I find these to be clear at the top end, gentle on the soul in the middle, and with plenty of bass down below. The bass sounds a little boom boom to me at first, but then again, what I'm comparing them with costs over 5 times as much. The bass is warm and packs a fair punch. They're also capable of loud. One thing about my reference phones that is a little annoying is that they have very high impedance characteristics, and getting them loud isn't possible using my iPod. Probably saves my ears, which is an up-side. There's no such issue with these though.Other cheaper phones, and a few not so cheap ones, I've tried offer tinny sound characteristics, very poor quality build, and don't last before breaking. The CX300's have all been of good sound quality for the price, build quality is good, and I've either lost them, had them 'borrowed' on a permanent basis (grrrrr) or pinched (bigger grrrrrr!). I've never broken them, or had any issues with reliability. One thing I noticed about this recent pair is that Sennheiser have changed the leads. The last pair I had were equipped with leads that had a very high silicon content. That made them very soft and less prone to knotting. These ones have come with leads that are far less flexible, and I've already had issues with untangling them. It's not a huge problem; just be careful when you put them away, but that's where the star-loss comes from. With the issue of the not-so-special leads asside though, I like the quality, the fit, and the sound of these phones. For anyone looking to upgrade from the standard in-ear rubbish that most devices get shipped with, I've no hesitation in recommending these as a possible alternative for not too high an outlay.

I can finally sleep better...
It's been a worry few months due to neighbours music going off throughout night. I already owned a well known brand of NC headphones but sound would still come through. I was undecided whether in ear headphones would help, after far too many sleep less nights I gave in. These in ear headphones have saved me and I wish I had purchased sooner. They sound amazing, much clearer than the NC headphones I use which sell for a lot more. They're not so good for calls as being in ear you'll hear your own voice loudly, but for wearing during the day to listen to music they block out incoming sound so you can focus on what you're doing which has been a struggle. A really great buy, only issue I have is the length of cable between headphones, it is short on the right side... That would be only issue I find.

Highly recommended, great sound for the price.
For the price, the sound quality of these headphones is excellent. I've compared these against much more expensive headphones in store and difference is minimal, certainly not worth the price jump (though that could be my rubbish ears, sound is a very personal experience after all). These are a great product for everyday listening; comfortable, good sound quality, good build quality (a pair of the previous release lasted 3+ years), good noise cancellation due to the good fit and not so expensive that if you do have an accident or misplace them you're not going to panic. Highly recommended

Is it fake or not ? and lead noise !!
The headphones are very good, but as of 2012 all Sennheiser goods should have an hologram id sticker, mine did not ? have any sticker at all. The following copy is from Sennheiser own web site "Effective immediately Sennheiser will deploy the latest identification technologies to protect customers against fake product and illegal counterfeiting. Starting in August 2012, the premium manufacturer's packaging and products will carry a new authenticity label, the tesa® PrioSpot. First products with this protection will hit the stores at the end of the year. "These security labels offer an uncompared level of protection against counterfeit for our customers, by using visible and hidden security features", It's now late July 2013, where is the ID.Having used the phones now for some time , wow, one big problem. Any lead movement against clothing or anything, when moving causes noise to travel to the ear piece, via the wire. Something I'v never had with over ear phones or normal ear, like Ipod phones. It interferes over the music sound quiet loud. I was very surprised and did not see this issue coming. The sound is good just don't move about I found. Disappointed.Lastly, do look out for fakes from elsewhere. My experience was, the bass crashed on deep notes, leads from the split where the same length (should be different), at the divider molding, the rubber as the leads go to the ear pieces was thinner than the genuine, lastly on genuine ear pieces there should be a gap between the polished aluminum and the back section. this allows air to move like real speakers ( bass reflex ) the fakes don't have this ( you can shine a light through the gap on real, not on fakes. But most of all the sound is CRAP.
