My girl loves this book!
My baby loves this book! Last month she was feeling discouraged about her hair because the girls at her daycare and the little girl she watches on tv have straighter hair. My girl has curly hair that I keep in cornrows most of the time. Her teacher alerted me that some of the kids have expressed curiosity about her hair, which I’m sure made baby girl feel uncomfortable. But once I read this book a few times (at her request), her confidence soared! She now looks forward to me braiding her hair and she loves the different designs I do. Books like these are very important to have around to show our kids they are unique and beautiful the way God intended them to be. I love this book!

She gets it now...
My daughter is 10 years old and I have kept her hair naturally curly. She is mixed and gorgeous. She was at school and a little girl told her, " You need to tell your mommy to perm your hair, its a mess." She came home crying because this little girl, who is like her (the girl is african-american) said that to her. I talked to her about it but I don't think she believed me when I told her that her hair was beautiful and special. I came to good ole' Amazon and saw this book. I bought it for her and when it came we read it together. She smiled at the similarities between her and the little girl in the book. Like how she asked her mommy to stop doing her hair until the ouchies went away, the same as she does with me, or that fact that every hair style in the book has been done to her hair too. She LOVES her hair now. And she wants more books about little girls' hair. This is hard but I am looking right now for another one. This book is an inspiration to all little girls of color or mixed race. It truly has been for my daughter.

A Cute Story of a Mother Teaching her Daughter to Love Herself
The recent Academy Awards brought a lot of attention to another story about a young African-American girl and her hair ordeals. This book was published 20 years ago, but I just discovered it recently when some other choices were sold out. The illustrations are colorful and realistic, as is the situation of a young girl starting to hate her own hair because her mother tugs on it so much as she styles it. This book could help parents or educators talk about hair problems that anyone could have and help children to appreciate their unique selves.

Haircare IS part of life, great gift
This book is lovely, just lovely. The art work has to be seen, i can not tell you how captivating the art work is. Cute story. It is hard to find any little girl of color who could not relate to the main character in the story, who did dislike having her hair done, but also did like how it looked once finished, as well as liked wearing her hair in a variety of ways. Hey, haircare is part of life. It just is. Makes a Great gift.

Absolutely Wonderful!
This is a wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated book! I purchased this with 2 similar books for my great-niece who must complete 30 minutes of reading each night. When I was a child, I used to believe that there was a shortage of brown paint because there were no children in my readers that looked like me; it makes one feel as if they don't belong or as though they are too different to be considered relevant. I LOVE that the book's message is so empowering. I'll be ordering ore from this author.

I LOVE MY HAIR- BOOK FOR YOUNG BLACK GIRLS
I love this book because it is so suitable for young Black Girls who lack pride in themselves. Black hair can be beautiful. It is different from other groups. This book teaches Black Girls that they have beautiful hair that stands out and is so attractive and healthy. Black hair is strong and can be styled in so many different ways. I purchased more than one copy of this book to give to several Black girls

I absolutely love this book
I absolutely love this book. I feel like it was written just for me and my youngest daughter lol. When I read it to her and she saw the little girl crying when getting her hair done, she said "mama that looks like me when you do my hair!" But reading this book to her and her sister helps them be more accepting of their hair. I tell them how beautiful their hair is and how they can do so much with it, just so they won't get caught up in what society deems as beautiful hair. So this book shows a little girl like them who is content with her hair. So now they think mommy is super smart and knows what she is talking about all because of this book "I Love My Hair!"
