Why are my horses smiling?
This stuff smells bad but works GREAT. I'm going to give all my other fly spray products the ol' heave-ho. Go to EcoVet's website and watch the video that shows how to apply it. Do NOT spray in on the horse's face. Spray it on the underbelly, legs, chest and a little spritz on the top of the neck behind the ears. Be aware of the wind direction when you spray it so you don't get it on YOU or people will think you've been on a bad date with an octogenarian. Spray only on a dry horse, not a wet or sweaty one. Bugs will not LAND on your horse. This is a godsend for those of us whose horses have neck threadworms or sweet itch. Works on flies, midges, gnats, mosquitoes but contains NO pyrethrins or permethrins. Non-toxic. I hope they will figure out a way to make a spray for HUMANS that will repel mosquitoes and no-see-ums (midges) as effectively this one does.

belly and top of neck every 2nd to 3rd day and it is working great. I had read that you have to get ...
In all the years I have had horses, the only fly repellent I ever had faith in over long term was WIPE as it is oil based so it has a residual effect. After trying a small bottle of ECOVET on three horses, I have switched over completely to this. Just ordered the gallon jug. I followed the directions and just spritz on legs, belly and top of neck every 2nd to 3rd day and it is working great. I had read that you have to get used to the smell, but I didn't find it that strong and it is a pleasant smell, similar to essential oils.

Works great but horse hates it
This is the greatest fly spray out there! It's in a smaller bottle buy you don't use it nearly as much or as frequently as you would other fly sprays. I just spray my horses legs, chest and stomach and he's good to go!***It does have a VERY VERY strong odor. Spray this outside and down wind or while you're infront of a fan. My horse hates this sorry but it really does work!

BEST FLYSPRAY ON THE MARKET! Seriously
I have a horse and I recently moved barns and this new barn has THE WORST FLIES I’ve ever seen. The barn doesn’t have fly predators or traps or sticky paper or repellant. Nothing. I normally use the black Ultrashield flyspray but needed something stronger. I used all the essential oils and vinegar and flyspray and NOTHING. I was worried my mare was going to stomp her shoes off. Finally went to Dover Saddlery and picked up a 4oz spritz bottle of this stuff because I heard the “new scent” formula wasn’t as effective (THIS IS THE OLD SCENT - or at least that’s what amazon sent me) and I mixed it in with my flyspray mix and TA DA the flies parted like the Red Sea. No stomping, no muscle twitching not even tail flicking IT WORKS THAT WELL.If you are not familiar with this product or want to try it out for the first time be warned DONT SPRAY INSIDE. Use outside only and sparingly. The scent is harsh and strong and you will cough. But it doesn’t matter because IT WORKS!!! If the scent offends you (and it will) I wouldn’t dilute it but I personally mix it with black ultrashield, white distilled vinegar, witch hazel, a drop of dawn and essential oils (peppermint, lemongrass, lavender, citronella, geranium, eucalyptus and rosemary) and the scent will still be there but you can definitely spray it indoors. I’ll keep my small 4oz bottle for spritzing legs before I put her back in turnout - no stomping, no tail swishing, no muscle twitching.Keeps the big nasty horse flies away too!

Excellent, non-toxic repellent for all bugs!
I bought this product after a recommendation from a friend. I don't own horses but was told that this product is an excellent bug repellent. Living in St. Louis I have had a problem with ants and mosquito's in my backyard and have had minimal success with normal ant/mosquito repellent that contains numerous chemicals. After spraying Ecovet around my porch I noticed an immediate difference and no longer have an issue with bugs and can enjoy being outside with no need for other repellents. I highly recommend Ecovet for anyone that has an issue with any type of bug regardless if they own animals or not.

No spray head/nozzle
Concur with other reviews as to effectiveness. As to THIS product, I will only add that the product pictured has a spray nozzle; the product I received had only a cap. I need to find a spray bottle (or at least a compatible spray head) now. Not a big deal but I would have preferred to know this up front.

It works!
It actually works. Usually, my horse is stomping by the end of a ride or anytime we halt or rest. With EcoVet, he remained fly free and didn't stomp even as I untacked and put him away. He did not get excessively sweaty, so I can not comment on its durability when in that situation. However, it far outperformed my previous favorite fly spray (Yellow bottle).Yes, it smells a little like a funky sunscreen. No, I don't love the scent. Who really cares- its fly spray, not perfume!

It stinks but it works!
Compare the front, right leg of our steer with the right hind. I had sprayed only the hind leg a few minutes before and when I noticed the difference in the two, I knew I had to write a review for Ecovet. Just a few minutes before, both legs were covered in flies. After Ecovet, the hind leg was practically fly-free.Other reviewers were right, it stinks like bad, rotten cologne but, hey, if it works I'm not going to complain too much about the smell. Also, it will make you cough if you inhale it, so check the direction of the breeze first. But after using it for a few weeks I have been impressed with how it works.Maybe it's our extremely wet and humid summer, but it does NOT last for days as other people had said. But it seems to do a reasonable job for most of a day. I will buy another bottle
