Finally added a second screen
Solved my dual screen issues! Cheap and works, this was probably the 4th adaptor I tried and it is the only one I got that worked.

Adaptor works with My monitor
This adaptor works with LG TV 24LQ520S. Tried two other adaptors they came up errors. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Does the Job Well with a Few Things to Keep in Mind
I needed a way to connect an older laptop with only VGA output to a newer HDMI-only monitor, and this adapter from Cable Matters worked exactly as described. Setup was easy—plug the VGA in on one end, HDMI on the other, and the included USB power cable ensured a stable signal. Within seconds, the display came through sharp and clean. Picture quality is good for what it is. It’s not going to magically turn VGA into high-definition HDMI, but the signal is consistent and text is crisp enough for work. The added audio support through the 3.5mm jack is a nice touch if you’re also trying to send sound along with video. One thing to note: you do need to use the USB power cable for it to function, so it’s not a purely passive adapter. Also, if you’re working with very high resolutions or gaming, you’ll want to temper expectations—it’s really designed for everyday use like office work, streaming, or presentations. Bottom line: If you need a reliable way to bridge old VGA equipment to modern HDMI displays, this adapter is a solid, no-hassle solution. It’s simple, dependable, and fairly priced.

Works as advertised. Ideal for older computer models.
This adapter kept me from having to spend money for a new system. The cable adapter works great. Works well with older computers that do not have HDMI ports or space to add an additional video card. I had an older model computer that only had a VGA port for video. When I connected this cable adapter I was able to use it with a monitor that only took HDMI connections. Just for giggles and laughs, I wanted to see if it would connect through a docking station and it worked! The video took about a half second longer to start broadcasting, initially. After that, I call it the 'adjusting phase' , the video was fine. The sound and volume, on the other hand, had to be adjusted through the operating systems sound software. The price was absolutely worth it and the shipping was fast. I order and got the product in December 2021. The only thing left, in my book, is to see how long it lasts. Right now, I give this product a thumbs up.

Tested in every possible way but this isn't working!
I think this may be the first 1 start review I have ever left. I was so excited to get this cable I couldn't wait to set it up. I'm not sure if it's me or the cable but I can't get it work- No audio, no picture I tried everything!!! *Disclaimer* even if it's me this thing deserves one star based on the simple fact there are no instructions with it! I'm not a tech guru but I do know my way around a computer... this seemed very simple so I wasn't worried that others said it didn't have any instructions. My set up: HP PC Desktop running Windows 7. I have an HP monitor but I wanted to connect my PC to my 32 inch Dynex LCD TV. I connected the VGA end of the cable to the PC and plugged in the usb to a port on my pc. My PC quickly loaded the driver. I then connected the HDMI to the black connector box and the other end of HDMI to the TV. I then powered the TV on and selected the appropriate HDMI input (in this case HDMI 1) My tv showed a message "retrieving data" then after a few moments read "no signal". I tried various usb ports, different hdmi inputs, different hdmi cables but nothing worked. I disconnected everything and reconnected SEVERAL times. Nothing. I changed display settings on tv and pc (literally tried every setting). Nothing. I even tried to connect the usb using a wall charger.. nothing. I then thought maybe it's my PC.. maybe it's too old. So I did this same thing with my Dell laptop also running Windows 7. Nothing. Then I thought maybe it's my TV! So I then tried this all again with another tv (Sony Bravia 46 inch LCD) Nothing. As a test I connected my laptop using the HDMI and it worked no problems. Which tells me it's this cable that is not working. Ok another test... I decided to connect my 32 Dynex to my computer using the VGA input. I previously purchased a double sided VGA w mini jack audio to VGA w mini jack audio to connect this same PC to my Dynex TV and it worked fine. - I know what you are thinking.. then just go with that... problem is I am going to purchase a new 43 inch tv that doesn't have VGA.. so I thought this cable would be the perfect fix. But it's not working.I have read so many of the reviews and all the questions posted.. and I have tried everything. I don't get how so many say this works and yet there are a significant amount of people who this doesn't work for. If someone could tell me what I am doing wrong I would be so grateful.. otherwise this is going back. I do want to note one thing.. even though nothing works.. from what I can tell once you connect the USB (which is designed to deliver both power and audio) your computer speakers stop working. Even though I never got video or audio from this thing I did immediately noticed that once I plugged in the USB my PC speakers stopped working .. just a note for anyone who may have wanted to have audio from PC instead of TV.. I know this may not be common but for me it was important. I have professional music studio speakers connected to my PC and I intended to use them as the primary source for audio. If anyone has any tips on why this may not be working, please help!

Thank you! Finally one that does what it says...
Trying to connect a new monitor to an older desktop tower was challenging, until I came across this gem - Thank you! Works perfect. Unhooked the old monitor & connected the VGA (blue monitor connection @ back of tower) to the desktop, plugged the USB into the back of tower - connected an HDMI cable (you will need a separate HDMI cable) to the adapter & plugged the other end to the new monitor. That's it! Plug and Play - Works great - no lag & sound (from the built in monitor speakers) is there. Couldn't be happier for a $22 solution!

So far, very good
Got it just a few days after ordering it. Amazon is getting pretty good with shipping times on most things. So, I found out the USB cord is for head phones. Only needed to plug in the VGA side to the computer and the HDMI to the TV and box. Sound and video worked through those connections. Picture fits the whole 32" screen, and the picture is good. I like it much better than the one I got from Fry's that crapped out after a year and 9 months. Hope this one lasts longer, but, it was cheaper. Also, it was on the list for best VGA to HDMI converters for 2018. I'm very happy with it so far.

Works As Described
I am using the "Cable Matters VGA to HDMI Adapter for Monitor and TV (VGA to HDMI Converter) with Audio Support" cable to connect my 2005 Sony Desktop Computer to a Samsung 32-inch LED TV. The setup involves connecting the VGA plug on the adapter module to the Sony computer and then a HDMI cable from the HDMI port of the cable module to the TV. It has worked consistently well for over a year. I recommend the product as I have described.

____________________________________________________________________________________________ ITEM REVIEWED : Cable Matters VGA to HDMI Adapter for Monitor and TV with Audio Support ................................. ASIN: B00IDFGK1W ____________________________________________________________________________________________ My KVM (and monitor) are all now HDMI for video. So if I want to connect my older PC (or laptop) to my KVM I need to convert my laptop's VGA output to a HDMI output. This cable does that job PERFECTLY right up to 1920 x 1080 resolution. Before I bought this "Cable Matters VGA to HDMI Adapter" I did source 3 other VGA to HDMI adapters. Sadly those first 3 could not do 1920 x 1080. Plus one of the first three I got had a number flickering patches on the screen as well at its highest resolution - certainly bothersome. I am so happy that I came across this one from "Cable Matters". It works as it should ! The picture on the monitor from the HDMI output is solid and the colors are vibrant. The adapter additionally also has a USB cable. This USB cable has two purposes. One it gets power from the USB to power the adapter. PLUS there is a USB to HDMI audio circuit inside this adapter as well. So in your Windows audio settings you can also select it as your 'audio' if you want - then the audio is fed via the HDMI output to the monitor (or TV... whatever you've connected the HDMI output to). In conclusion, all I want to say is that of all the VGA to HDMI adapters I've tried, this is the only one that does what I want and it does it perfectly - that is why I'm writing this review. This review and rating is based on my personal opinion of this product without any input from Amazon, the manufacturer or the seller. I have tried to present as fair and independent review as possible. I hope that the time I took to write this review is of some small help to you. If anything changes or I have any updates I will come back to add to this review.
