Worked perfectly in my older case with standard front case fan - quieted the noisy fan!!
Simple to install. Works precisely as intended and described for a common case fan. I have an older case, so experienced none of the installation issues mentioned by others with tool-less cases. I can now tune the noisy fan in the front of the case so that it is barely audible now, but still provides adequate airflow. The rear fan in my power supply automatically adjusts speed based on internal temperature and is much quieter because my power supply is relatively new.I also really appreciated that this speed control comes with both a rear expansion slot plate, or a front 3.5" plate. Not having a spare 3.5 front slot, I bought it with StarTech 3.5-Inch to 5.25-Inch Floppy Mounting Kit Bracket and it matches (black) and fits perfectly in a spare 5.25 front slot.

Great and simple controller for little $
A basic, budget fan controller with several options for installation. I used this in a Silverstone ML04B to control the 4x 80mm fans (It has a sideways full sized PCI slot on the rear near the fans). I'm sure it's not rated to control that many fans and it took some custom soldering of the wiring to make it work, but it seems to be working fine thus far (note: I did not power off the motherboard either, I made a SATA power to 3-pin fan header to power it). The 4x fans I used at around 50-75% up on this controller make them absolutely silent. At 100%, they make some noise, but this was worth cutting that bit of airflow for the noticeable drop in decibels. Inside the plastic box is just some basic electronics and seems it could be less bulky, but you would probably pay 50-100% more to have a slimmer design. Hard to argue with for the price on this one.

Don't use with 2.4 amp or higher fans.
Ordered two for two 2.4 amp fans I own. Has been less then a week and the controller has already started to fail on one of them. Seems to randomly pick what speed to run at now regardless of the knobs position.I think it's obvious now that these are only meant for a single generic case fan you'd find, and nothing performance oriented. If the fan you're using can move more then 85 CFM- then don't bother hooking it up, it's just going to burn the controller out. Which begs the question of why it's almost 9$ USD then. You'd think for that much they'd make something that could handle more then a low end fan....you know, something that'd actually require a fan controller in the first place.

Decent
It works well besides the fact that it didn't work with my new fans but will work on older fans

Does what it's supposed to
Got a new old motherboard (the same or slightly better than my old old motherboard; as I was making two computers out of one and some parts) which doesn't have any way to control fan speed (fans run at top speed at all times, and even with new, quieter fans, it's still very loud). I installed this fan speed controller in order to moderate the running speed of my two case fans (a 70 and a 120, running from the only fan socket via a splitter). The fans keep my pc cool even with the controller at it's lowest setting (which is what I keep it on), but they run much quieter, and I would assume that my fan bearings will last longer since the fans aren't running at max speed 24/7. I've been using it for a few months now, and I haven't noticed any of the overheating (of the fan controller) mentioned in other reviews. I think those who have may be using the wrong kind of fans with this controller. The controller in my pc is cool to the touch and I run my pc pretty much constantly.

Watch out for how much amperage your fan pulls
I had the question concerning whether or not it would handle a 12v fan that pulled 3 amp. Well I bought 2 and tried running only one fan per controller just in case and it still managed to burn out the controllers. So I don't consider it a very strong controller. Still looking for one that will handle that voltage and amperage of those fans.

Works well for keeping single fan attached to molex quiet.
It works well, what more can I say? Docking one star as it doesn't seem to provide a full range of control (i.e. turning all the way down doesn't turn the fan off, and turning all the way up doesn't turn the fan to max.). Rather, the range goes from about 50-90%. This is perfectly sufficient for my purposes, as I bought this to keep the fan (only using for a single 80mm fan connected to molex) from getting too loud. I run the fan around 70%.

Quick and easy fan control for 1 channel
I used this to slow down a little northbridge cooler (3-pin fan) on my old Socket 775 mobo. I mounted it in the PCI expansion slot at the back of the computer so my kids don't play with it all the time. It works well and let me make the fan way, way less noisy.
