I only used this knife a couple times and the blade snapped off...I understand that the "mini" version of the Hori Hori knife might not be as strong as the standard size with a wood handle but I was disappointed that I was only able to use this product a couple times before it broke. Wish this product was made better. Great size for small hands though.Updated 4/28/16- After informing the seller that the knife had broken I was contacted the next day with the offer to replace the knife. I received the new knife within a couple days and was happy they were willing to replace the knife. I give the company a high rating for the replacement and think this knife could be a great garden tool as long as its not used for tough jobs which are better left to the regular size wit a wood handle.

At first I was skeptical that the small size of this tool would render it ineffective. Boy was I wrong. First, it is really sharp - and the leather holster does a good job of protecting you - I tend to wear elastic topped shorts to garden in - with no belt - but the leather sheath fits perfectly into a front pocket and I don't have the knife cutting a hole in it (or me). Second, it's not just for weeding, it works great trimming (like a knife) and shaping shrubs, the serrated side of the blade is really something to use, and I have used it around potted plants where space is limited as well as for planting small bulbs, like garlic. This is a useful tool with the ability to handle much larger jobs than one might think by its size. It is in my pocket or my hand almost half the time I work in the garden. If you have a garden, or know someone who does, buy it, you won't be sorry.

I originally liked this very much but after 2 years the knife just snapped in half right where the metal goes into the handle. When I looked at the two pieces, I realized the steel is rather thin. I had the knife completely in the dirt while trying to dig out a weed with a long root. When I angled the knife to loosen the soil, it snapped in half. And the dirt wasn't super hard are anything. It had rained a lot this month so the soil was soft and easy to sink the knife into. The stainless steel was good, it never rusted and the leather holster is great, but the steel just needs to be a bit thicker.

I'm so glad I bought this knife. I've been using it since April with no problems. I think it will last me a good long time; however, I do not use it in dry, hard soil. I might get another one. It's sharp point and serrated side have eliminated my need for any other garden knife. In fact, it's the only tool I've used since I bought it. I have small hands and it's just the right size.

Just the right size for me (a senior-aged woman) and the jobs I need done. Works great on removing dandelion roots and other weeds.I appreciate the sheath which seems good quality as well. The sheath makes the tool easy to carry and have handy. Although this tool is called a knife, it is more of a digging tool than a cutting tool.

not the strongest steel... broke right in half. but still got the nice sheath that fits my pruners. i have added a star, because they replaced the knife for me.

Great knife, just what I wanted. I was using a AC Vent knife for years, My Wife got me this as a gift. Perfect knife, perfect wife.

Fabulous tool. Great for weeding, planting, working the soil. Extremely well made. Highest quality.
