Unnecessarily big, check out their updated "Pro" mount
I own this version and am quite happy with its functionality. It's more-or-less permanently mounted to the CD slot of my Audi Allroad, whose CD changer I never use. This Koomus comes with three sets of pads of different thicknesses to fit CD slot openings of different heights. I traveled with this once, installing it in a Toyota mini van, and the fit was considerably looser, despite the insertion mechanism that opens to fill the available space. I didn't bring the other sizes of pads with me, and am not offering this as a criticism, but just pointing out there are various sizes of vehicles to fit.My chief complaint is the huge molded plastic base of this mount -- it's quite wide, and also somewhat fat. It all seems unnecessary, especially considering how comparatively svelte dimensions of the updated model of this product. This extra size doesn't have much impact on usability -- in fact, the mount is quite stable and quiet in use -- but it does make quite the chunk that has to be stored in the center console or packed in a carry-on bag from time to time. The clamp that holds the phone is secure, yet after some practice is easy to use one-handed. The clamp is small enough that I can fit my Motorola Turbo into it without any inadvertent button presses. The ball swivel on the back side allows for very easy rotation from portrait to landscape mode, without having to tighten or loosen any clamps. Yet the phone never bounces, rotates, or drops, no matter how rough the driving. The notion of jamming a phone mount into my CD slot seemed crazy just a year or so ago, but times have changed, and since March, the only thing I've used my CD player for on this car is... THIS. It's not to say you can't play CDs and use a Koomus CD player mount, but I don't think you'll be happy yanking this out of the slot with any regularity. So if you're still attached to your discs, keep that under consideration. But if you're sick of ugly, shaky suction cup mounts, and find the air vent phone mounts frustrating, this may very well be the mount for you.

Great Smartphone stand
I was looking for a smartphone stand for my car that would not take anything away from field of vision when I drive. I have a Cadillac SRX and the CD area is rather large and kind of leaves a lot of open space on the dash. I think if I had the model that had GPS that's probably where the screen would have gone, so I though this stand would be good to try out since I could slide it into my CD disc slot and it would not block the screen on the dash that tells me the time and other alerts while I drive. I've been using this stand for about a month now and it hold my phone very well. It is easy to place my phone in the stand and easy to remove my phone from the stand. I the distance the stand juts out from the stand may annoy some people, I have actually hit my hand on the stand once when I was driving when I was moving my hand from the gear shift the the steering wheel, but I have since become more aware of how I move my hands since that happened and I haven't had an issue since. I found the stand easy to insert into the disc slot, you need to be slow when inserting to make sure you don't damage your CD player. Once you feel any resistance stop and you should be good to go, even if you feel like it looks like it should go in more trust me this thing stays very well. I tried removing this several times to make sure it wouldn't be difficult and once again doing as the instructions instructed by pushing down and pulling out slowly it removed easily. I have not had any issues with this falling out of the disc player or my phone falling out of the stand. I have no issues with this stand shaking making it hard to see the screen when I use my phones GPS. The swivel on the stand works perfect and fits my Galaxy S5 just fine. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an alternative to stands that sit on your dash board or must be suctioned to your windshield.

I have spent countless hours and wasted so much money trying to find a cell phone ...
I have spent countless hours and wasted so much money trying to find a cell phone mount that works. I finally will look no further! This Mount hits all the criteria I was looking for a blows it out of the water.First off my CD player does not work so I was comfortable using this space for something else. (I have noted you can remove it quickly if you still like to play CD's although its 2014 and you should just download your music anyways). It fits snuggly into the opening with enough pressure to keep the mount secure without feeling like you are going to break your disc slot.I find little to no vibration that affects the use or visibility of the phone when clipped in.For those unsure about the clip itself (I know there is another style by the same company with a different way for the phone to mount and I took a good amount of time weighing the possible pro's and cons of each). I am glad I went with the alligator mouth style clip. it looks small in the picture but I use a Galaxy S5 Active and it more than clears the large size of my phone!I have hit the gas hard and have hit potholes without worrying and things have stayed in place. My favorite part is that I don't have to use those gross sticky suction cups on my windshield that leave a mark and fall off randomly (which is a hazard to driving and terrible for your phone.)I drive a Saab 9-3 and the dash is textured so I cant stick anything to it. This mount has solved all of my issues.I live in Vermont and starting Oct 1st 2014 we will not be allowed to use our cells phones to talk while driving (up to the ear), this product will allow me to keep my phone at hands reach to answer a call with my Bluetooth system and will keep me 100% legal!!!!!Thanks for reading. I hoped this helps you in your decision for the best car phone mount.

This is the best phone mount I have bought with one caveat!
****I do love this phone mount but they only last about one year. I'm about to order my third one. The neck breaks at around the 10 or 12 month mark. Perhaps it's because we get very cold winters here, so yours might last longer. I keep buying them anyway because they are a great price.***** Love it! I have an iPhone 5S with a cover and it fits into it perfectly. So easy to install. But use two hands (instead of one hand like the guy on the Youtube video tried to do)! Don't forget to take the CD out before installation. Puts the phone at the perfect level to see maps or to see who is calling (if you have call display). Doesn't block anything important across my dash. I can still see the clock. The only button that I can't reach well is the CD button but I won't be using that anyway. I used to have one of those air vent holders and it kept coming out and falling on the floor of the car. The other problem with the vent one is that it blocks the vent! My phone was always boiling hot in the winter and that isn't good for the battery. In the summer, I was always boiling hot because the air conditioning couldn't reach me from that vent. This device allows you to turn the phone from portrait to landscape and it swivels across quite an arc. You can turn it to face your passenger and allow them to send a text or make a hand-dialled call for you. It's still early days of using it so the only caveat that I have so far, is that putting the phone into the cradle seems easier with two hands than one. However, I might just be overly worried about my particular phone case (which is soft on the sides) getting pulled back if I use one hand. If your case is hard on all corners and sides, it probably wouldn't be an issue.) ***Edit - have been using this for many weeks now and easily put the phone in and remove it with one hand using a "one side in and then stretch it open while popping the other side in" technique. *** The other thing is that the spring might get a little looser over time (it did) so that I can easily put the phone in with one hand. Given that, I like the fact that the spring is nice and tight. It makes it feel that the phone is very secure. Have had no problems so far with the mount feeling loose at all. Seems to be very secure and tight in the CD slot. Also, there doesn't seem to be any movement from the phone itself as I go over any bumps. See photos I've included to see the profile and close up images of the mount.

Overall a Great Product!
This Holder does the job just fine. I've noticed the name says "...for all i Phones and Android Devices" which I wouldn't say is completely true. I use it primarily for my Samsung S8 and an old iPhone 4 which I use just for music now. The S8 fits perfectly (even a case) however the concave slots are too small for my old iPhone with the case on. But, even though it doesn't fit into the slots, the mount still grips it fairly well and it hasn't fallen once. The only other issue I noticed is I find myself adjusting the neck quite a bit as it tends to slide down after a few bumps in the road. Overall i'm very happy with this product and think it's much better than other car mounts I've seen.

Good product for the price.
I bought this several years ago and it has held up well. It's sturdy, it clamps well onto my Nexus 5, and it hasn't broken yet. For the price, it's pretty good. Some other reviewers have mentioned that this product damaged their CD / DVD player. I cannot comment on this since I never use my car's CD player, so I wouldn't know. All I can say is that it does a good job of holding up a cellphone, and is easy to install and use. The ball-and-socket joint offers three rotational degrees of freedom (yaw, pitch, and roll) so you can orient your phone into whatever orientation you like, including landscape or portrait orientations. It's stiff enough that it will hold its position and will not flop over. And it's quick and easy to open and close the spring-loaded jaws to insert or remove your phone.

Works great with iPhone 6
Easy to install, took a few seconds, great mount for iPhone 6 used in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. My only small gripe is that it blocks the clock on the elantra but then again the phone shows me the time. This is the first Cd mount I've had and I'm very pleased with it, specifically for the make and model of my car. The 2013 Elantra vents are low which make vent mount holders impractical. This one does the job, love the ability to rotate 360, holds the phone in place perfectly, tilts side to side, up and down and doesn't block other dashboard controls on my make of car, everything is still accessible.I paid the extra $5 for 2 day shipping and got it just as expected. Highly recommended!

The best mount I have ever tried.
I've tried many phone holders for my car, but this has got to be the best. I got so tired of those suction cup holders that would fall off depending on ambient temperature. This one is perfect. It is surprisingly sturdy and position perfectly in the car. Cars are designed for the radio (CD slot) to be within reach and at good eye sight level so this mount puts the phone at a perfect place so long as you have a CD slot (which I never use). I have a Nexus 5 while my wife has an iPhone 5S. Each with a case. The mount works with both and you can angle the phone any way you wish. Takes two hands to load up the phone, but at least I don't have to stretch to reach my own windshield mount. Very happy with the purchase.
