Hudson Taylor (Men of Faith)

Very well written!

Oh, read this book! It was recommended to me many years ago, and I still give it as a gift quite often.The story of the man is fascinating, but his on-purpose, implicit trust in a good and loving and ALL POWERFUL God will change lives, especially the lives of those who, like Hudson Taylor, are given to the Word and Gospel of Jesus Christ for the sake of all.Read of his mother's weekend of prayer that resulted in his salvation and of his determination to trust God with his health and finances in preparation for his ministry. He writes honestly of his doubts and fears, but also of the triumph of trust. I would put it near the top of the 25 books every Christian ought to read.

I read this ONLY because my mother did & she suggested that I might like it. We have similar taste in books. So even though it had this stern looking old guy on the dated front cover, I gave it a shot. Boy was I in for an amazing change of heart! Very interesting life, I had no idea who Hudson Taylor was, and really didn't care. The cover had my skepticism @ an all time high, but I am so glad I read about this amazing man! It was an interesting true story, a quick read, & shed light onto my issue of judging a book by its cover. ;)

I expected it to be a regular size book, but it was a pocket book and not in very good shape for the library. So I kept it for myself to read.

In this age of self indulgence and excess, it is good to ponder the lives of people who changed the world through their determinate sacrifice. Mr. Taylor does not think his work is amazing or unusual though it certainly is with our society as it's backdrop. How difficult it is for Americans, who have so much and are still besieged to want/acquire more, to see clearly the beauty and comfort of the simple, 'think of others first' life.

What an incredible and challenging story of what the Lord can do through the power of the gospel of Jesus.

Hudson Taylor's devotion to prayer and utter, complete reliance on the Lord is amazing. We need to learn from his example and eliminate many materialistic areas from our lives. It's a great book to read about the early days of Christianity in China.

Great book: interesting facts, easy to read, inspiring.

IT is so interesting read. What people did for Christ makes me feel so very small in my service to Jesus Christ.

This is a very thought provoking book. It challenges on many levels. His total lack of materialism and belief that you should only have such possessions as are necessary for your life is total odds with our lifestyle today. I have read it several times and am now constantly going back and rereading certain bits of it.A truly great book.

I was deeply expecting to know more of his prayer life,and revival expiriences not just about history....

This is the cheapest way to buy books and altho it is hard on the retailers I just look out for value for money. Excellent book
