Can I use it for hot ashes?

I would NOT purchase this item for anything, at any time and would not even accept a replacement if offered as it is so not worthy! I purchased it thinking it was going to be perfect as a holder of water for my birds and it leaked within a week and actually is starting to rust. So unhappy with item and I think I might have even posted a "buyer beware" on it as well.

Is this water tight? I want to put ice in it.

Nope! Mine is leaking like a faucet, so I'll be sealing it.

What is the diameter on the bottom. I want to use it as a base for beverage dispenser. Is it strong enough to hold weight of 2 gallon dispenser.?

O.K. you got me thinking there. The base diameter is just under 9 1/2" I think it should easily hold the weight of a Two (2) gallon dispenser. That is if it doesn't weigh over 10 lbs., plus the weight of the liquid inside, for a total of 26 pounds at the absolute most. Please remember we're not using confirmed data here - at best this is a good guess.
