My first one lasted over 8 years. This is my second one.
I actually paid a few extra dollars to keep my first Hayward navigator going, but it lasted me for over 8 years. However, recently whatever I tried to fix it, I would have had to turn it in again for maybe another $100 fix. So, we decided to just buy a new one. And, it turned out to be the best thing. This new Hayward navigator is working the way the first one did 10 years ago. We kept the old one for parts. The old one was just not moving right. This one goes up the pool sides (once adjusted properly) and goes in circles all along the pool to make a complete cleanup on the bottom. The price seems a little hefty to me for such a simple product ($350), but when there's nothing else out there to do the job, I guess you just have to pay the price. All in all, this little machine does the job for around 10 years.

Affordable and effective
Overall very happy with the machine. Simple, compact design and easy to install out of the box. In my case, the dedicated vacuum line in my pool achieves minimal suction for this device - so it does not climb the walls. The box comes with a spring loaded device to test the suction where you plan to plug in the vacuum. If it shows minimum suction, don't expect it to climb walls. It does do a great job on the pool bottom however.

Seems solid. One of the best home vacs around it seems.
Two weeks in, I've been very satisfies with how well this works. I can see why these style of Heyward vacuums have been seen as the gold standard for decades for in ground pools. Got this once my Aquabot was starting to age out and we replaced our filter to one of these types to better justify a pump operated vacuum.Pros:-works very well-able to climb walls.-easy to use install kit with great documentation to get just the right suction.-designed to not get stuck, great with pools with challenging designs-can cover a lot of space quickly.Cons:-Will not climb the wall every time. Heyward mentions this is part of the behavior for these in the manual. It will climb it eventually.I'm hoping to get the legendary 10-20 years owners have been known to get out of these.

Never had the problem new from the box
This product is a Suctioning automated pool vac used for maintaining a clean concrete pool floor. My previous Navigator lasted for 15 years with periodic maintenance replacement of parts. I finally decided to replace it and went with the newer version of the Navigator designed for concrete floor bottoms. It worked well traversing the entire pool once I dialed in the suction & flap adjuster. This lasted for maybe eight weeks. Then I noticed it would only clean one area of the pool, traveling in one direction. I did the hang test for 8 minutes which is plenty of time for it to reverse it’s direction but it failed to do so. I’ve tried to make adjustments and looked for foreign debris but have found nothing problematic. I hate to go through the internals ie the gearbox, turbine, A-frame and bearings because this thing is BRAND NEW out of the box!!!! I don’t know what to do at this point. I’m not new to this type of pool cleaner and have worked on them with success. I wrote this in Feb 2022 and not sure if I sent it but it’s Oct 2022 and still poor performance. I’ve tested the interval rotation of the unit and it works as it should and has suction and the mechanism that causes it to crawl seem to be working but the damn thing will not propel/crawl across the pool and after going through all the components I can’t get it to perform. Nothing has changed with my pool operation other than experimenting with various degrees of suction from the pool suction valve to try and get it to work. This is a don’t buy!!!!! The product may be lemon but it worked in the beginning so I think there is a failed component that I’m not able to identify

Works well!
I researched and researched pool vacuums, some 100s of $, but most were 1k plus. That being said, this pool vacuum is priced nicely and works great! Came well packaged, with clear instructions. She moves slowly but my pool looks great.

THIS IS THE ONE!! AT LAST MY SEARCH IS OVER!
I went through like 4 other pool cleaners before landing on this one. Its been a long time coming, and I'm so happy my search is finally over. I ordered this on September 16, 2023, so its coming up on a year and I've had 0 problems with this. I had used the suction ones that skim the bottom of the floor, to the zodiac ones with monster truck wheels that climb up the walls. Each one with their own challenges for my pool.I have two trees in the backyard and my neighbors have big trees so its quite common to get leaves in my pool. The skimmer gets most of it but I needed something that would suck up small/regular sized leaves. The thing I love about this model is that you can adjust the sensitivity to make it climb walls or not. I have it set to not climb as I've had issues with other cleaners climbing out of the water (which caused $$$ repair/replacement to my pool pump!).This cleaner glides around the bottom of my pool, it eats up leaves and keeps the floor looking clean. It doesn't get stuck, the suction is great, and lastly... sometimes it eats a seed or something from my palm trees and that stops the suction. On the bottom there is a small screw that you can unscrew to clean out anything that is blocking suction.I love this thing!!

Good manufacturer support
I replaced an older navigator with this model, and it was easy to set up, worked well. After a couple of weeks use, I noticed it was not working well. When I pulled it out of the pool, I found the connector to the unit was cracked, compromising the ability for maintaining suction. I contacted Hayward, and they sent me a new hose kit without question. It arrived within a week. I noted that the new connector appears slightly thicker. Performance of the vacuum has been good. Very satisfied with the manufacturer response and the vacuum.

Will not buy it again
It worked well and as soon as it hit the one year mark the machine started giving problems. It keeps circling the same location , pool repairs coould not fix it.
