Good book especially if you are little for an easy to reach reference on your set up strategy and use case of option strategies. Bough for my wife who I have been teaching to trade she love it

First off, the quality of the book construction is outstanding! Thick, hard covers bound by a double metal spiral will last a lifetime, as will the photo-grade inner pages. You can pass this one on to your grandkids. The content is written in a reference book style. It opens with a short lesson on what an option is, how they're bought and sold, and defines the unique language terms that options traders use.The bulk of the book is exactly what I was needing - 40 ways to use options to fill various needs for different purposes and markets. Each strategy is clearly described, and instructions for placing and managing each order is laid out with coloring book clarity and simplicity.If you're an investor who hasn't tried adding options to your portfolio, this is a great place to start your experience!As a side note, this item ships USPS; if your local Post Office is a terrible as mine, you might try to find another source. Our carriers are liars, and report the delivery as "on the porch" when in fact it is just tossed over the fence where anyone can see and steal it.

Going into reading this book, I had maybe a year of option trading experience. I bought this book to reinforce the things that I have learned over the past year, and possibly get some new perspective on the markets and strategies. In this book, the author does a great job at bringing the terminology and basic strategies down to the level of the layman.The book kept a light hearted feel to it, which I think is necessary when talking about stock options (Whenever I start talking about them to any friends in person their eyes immediately glaze over). The problem with that is he glossed over any sort of real-life experience, and experience that traders can really relate to. It's one thing to say that "watch out kids, the naked short can go against you, even when it's way out of the money" - but it's another to say "I failed to manage my risk in 2000, and a trade where I was looking to make $200, turned into a $2000 loss." When talking about playing a game of speculation, history is doomed to repeat itself - and as a novice option trader myself, no amount of warnings can teach the same lesson as getting burned on an option trade gone south.That being said, this did read much more like a playbook than a "Bible" - It lists the plays that you can choose to run, but at the end of the day it's up to the players to make game-time decisions that ultimately determine whether the trade will be a success or failure - and the discipline it takes to realize that it's worth taking a 20% loss 45% of the time, as long as you make 20% the other 55% of the time.Bottom line, if you are new to options - this book is a great read to get your feet wet - but DO NOT trade with real money until you have a handle on your own cash account, margin account, and your personal risk profile in real dollars. Live to trade another day.

Very helpful. I was able to review and learn my option knowledge. The pictures helped me to understand the type of the options.

I have a Intermediate understanding of options and how they perform.This book still helps me out alot especially the Chapter on the 40 plays, If I want to refresh my mind on how an Iron Condor is set up and its characteristics/ profit/loss diagram, I go to that play and he tells it like it is without confusing its reader.As well, I like that it is spiral bound as I can fold the book on whatever play I am studying. I use the book and on the web to set up virtual trades, then to see how each play moves with the market.Read and further your educatuion into the "greeks".....The greeks are like a key to your front door. You wil be lost and discouraged if you have "no idea" of what they are and how they affect premiums.Delta,Gamma,Theta and Vega are the 4 Greeks, there is a 5th Greek, Rho butfor most applications traders grasp the first 4 I mentioned.I have watched Brian on CBOE's webinars as well as the Trade King Webinars and I find he is an excellent teacher in the amounted time he has on each webinar.I hope he updates another book for the more " Mid-Advanced" option trader in the future.For now there is alot to cover in Options playbook, Straddle, Strangle, Condor anyone??

It's a pretty good quick reference if you already understand Options, but this is not helpful if you're a beginner trying to learn about Options. This will not make you savvy on all the various permutations or when to employ them for max effectiveness. You could just as easily google the different types of Option trades and get a similar product.

I've been looking at many investment books and online guides but none of them are easier to understand than this book. This book will show you the many varieties of option trading strategies. This is now stay on my table everyday as guide and reminder in setting up options. Everything is written clearly, big and visible letters so easy on eyes to read. Will there be a new updated edition? I'll buy the new edition as well and gift this one to someone else who's interested in trading options. Cheers and happy trading.
