Le Pit D'Argent
La Maison du Bonheur is more or less a modern-day French The Money Pit as Danny Boon's tightfisted credit manager impulsively buys a `country house' on the outskirts of Paris from Daniel Prevost's dodgy realtor as a surprise for his wife and finds himself not only having to pay out a fortune for renovations but also out of a job while trying to keep both facts a secret until he can sort it out. It ticks over pleasantly enough but it's distinctly short on laughs and amiability and a jaunty Phillipe Rombi score will only carry a film so far. It just about avoids outstaying its welcome over its 103 minutes, but it certainly won't tax your memory for long after seeing it.The French PAL DVD boasts a good 2.35:1 widescreen transfer with English subtitles and a host of unsubtitled extra features - deleted scenes, outtakes, 45-minute documentary and trailer among them.

Didn't like it - I'm a lover of French cinema and French comedies - but this has to be one of the worst I've seen. Very surprising given the cast of Boon, Laroque (brilliant in Le Placard) and Prevost (Le Diner des Cons) along with several of the cast from Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis including the wonderful Line Renaud (Antoine's mother) and several others.Story was lacking, film was rather amateurish particularly the builders, and disappointingly was not funny at all - found it a chore to sit through it.One to avoid

La maison du bonheur
Was a bit disapointed as the actors are amongst my favorites but the scrip did not get the best out of them, pity but i would hesitate to recommend it , on the whole it was let us say a bit poor due to the story not very inspiring

One Star
Normally love Danny Boon but this was so mediocre and I didn't even watch it until the end.
