Cozy Seedlings
When my old heating pad quit working, I looked in the drugstore for a new one. With all the new safety regulations, I couldn't find one that did not cut off automatically after an hour or two. Of course this is best for using on a sore back, but it does not keep seedlings consistently warm, and that is what we need for germination. I ordered a couple of these Plant Babies mats and love them. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the little hump where the cord meets the mat. Arranging the flats on the mats would have been a bit easier if the humps weren't there, but it isn't a really big deal.

Great for starting seeds
This mat worked great under a seed starting kit I had purchased. The kit had a clear plastic lid and with the heat mat underneath it created a rainforest effect with the condensation (after the initial watering). I was unplugging it for several hours a day, unsure how long it could stay on (there's no on/off switch), but decided to test it leaving it on for several days and I had no problems. Most of my seeds came up with the heat and moisture from the condensation and partial sunlight from the window. Unfortunately once my seedlings became too tall for the lid, I placed them outside and they died. I'm looking for an indoor heatlamp now to allow them to get bigger before transferring, but I'll still use the heat mat to help them get started. Warning: insects will be attacted to the heat and hide under the pad.

Absolute must-have
I grow vegetables from seeds and this heat mat is a must have. I set up an experiment with tomato seeds to text the results of this. I use plastic egg containers as mini-greenhouses. After I planted the seeds, I put one container on this heat pad and one in normal temperates. They both received the same watering and light. The seeds in the mat germinated in a few days and reached an inch high before some of the "cold" ones even germinated. If you are starting seeds you absolutely have to have one of these. The temperature of the heat pad is approximately 100 degrees F in my basement with room temp around 65.I also grow palm trees and other tropical plants from seed. These kinds of seeds will not germinate without proper temperature. This heat pad is a necessity for growing tropicals.

The cord is nice and long
Heated our entire seed-starting tray this year. There is a separate feedback-controlled power-regulating thermostat that you can get for this, but we did not find it necessary, and everything germinated very quickly and reliably. I think almost all of our seeds were up inside 3 days and even the hot peppers were up within a week. This will make timing of our starts easier. The cord is nice and long, which is important for this kind of product.

REALLY GOOD MAT AT AN ECONOMICAL PRICE AT AMAZON
I AM USING A GROW MAT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CONJUNCTION WITH A GROW LIGHT. THE MAT DOESN'T GET TOO WARM--I LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN ALL THE TIME. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK MY SEEDS SPROUTED TO AN INCH TALL . ALTHOUGH STILL TINY, THESE SEEDLINGS LOOK UPRIGHT AND HEALTHY. 'NEVER HAD EVEN THIS MUCH SUCCESS WITHOUT A GROW MAT.I FIND THE MAT A GOOD SIZE FOR MY NEEDS.

Used for two seasons with positive results
Ive used two of these mats for two seasons and have been impressed with the results, especially when Lowes and Home depot, and Walmart all want $25 for one small 10x10 heat pad. I have started all my vegetables and all my plants get a good quick start. Tomatoes pop up in a few days with these mats.

Great heat mat
Great heat mat. It was recommended to me that I use this for my bonsai but I think it wound up frying their roots. It stayed very warm the whole time, not sure how it would hold up for using it for seedlings.
