Celestial Globe - Could not Put it Down
I loved this book. I downloaded to my e-reader as soon as I finished the first book. Found myself staying up very late reading because I could not put it down - had to know what would happen last! I cared what happened to the characters and their quest. The author did a great job with this story - pulling characters from history who interacted with the heroine and her friends. This story kept going and going - now slow spots. As soon as I finished it I downloaded the third and final book. I will also add the book is well written, grammatically - not just the story.

Loved this book
The author is very good at setting the scene for a very thrilling book. It is an amazing sequel to The Cabinet of Wonders.

beautifully imaginative world with fascinating characters.
Petra and her father are attacked by the Gray Men, and she is rescued by the mysterious cruel, yet kind, John Dee and brought to his house in England, where she meets his equally puzzling family and the charming, secretive sword master Kit. Soon, Petra finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery and a quest for the Celestial Globe, a map of "loopholes" of travel. Meanwhile, her friends Neel and Tomik are rushing to her rescue. Rutkoski weaves a magical story taking place in an alternative 17th century Europe, where magic and political intrigue fill the air, where real historical figures are as deeply intriguing as Rutkoski's own characters. Deeply, cleverly imaginative, this series is what young adult fantasy literature should be. Reminiscent of the late great Diana Wynne Jones. Grade: A

Fun, but not as good as the first.
At first, I wasn't really taken with the story. The first book was so new, such a new type of fantasy with many things to discover as they revealed themselves throughout the story. The sequel, however, lacks some of that sense of discovery. There are still elements that pepper themselves throughout, but mostly this is an adventure story with lots of swashbuckling and murder mystery. That's not to say that the book is bad, per se, or even that it's worse than its predecessor. It's just that what I was hoping for was a further exploration of the fantasy elements that make up the world, how they work, why most people only have one power, etc. I would still recommend it, especially if you enjoyed the first book in the series.-Lindsey Miller, lindseyslibrary.com

Just as great as the first one!
The Celestial Globe is just as good as the first one in it's series, The Cabinet of Wonders. Great plot, realistic characters, and the way the sentences flow is great! The pages don't tear easily and neither does the cover. Defiantly a great book!

I love it!
I love fantasy books and when I got this book I was glued to the book and couldn't stop reading it! I'm very disappointed that there's only one more book in the series! I recommend this book to kids and people who like magic and fantasy books.

:D
The first book in the series has an audible narration and I wish the rest of the series did too! I like to listen to books while I clean.

Great Read
Interesting and creative. Set in a place where few have much knowledge- Bavaria- and a different kind of fantasy with morality as a central part.
