Original Album Classics Horses/ Radio Ethiopia/Easter/Wave/Dream Of Life

I have the land album I burned from a library I worked at years ago. I liked every song and so I decided to get this collection of albums. Probably the first time I heard her music was watching the “Natural Born Killers “ movie back in 94. I liked the music the first time I heard it but I always thought it was some 90’s female band. Anyway this is the first time I paid for her music and I am not disappointed. I only wish cd cases had the little pamphlets with lyrics and artwork. I worked in a printing bindery briefly and I understood that can be expensive. I watched a documentary about her on some music channel and it was interesting her inspiration from like the beat generation. I always thought the beatniks were truly free just didn’t take the time to dress up like the hippies or to some extent the early eighties punks. It was like a group of people that come to the stage of acceptance they didn’t fit in and liked people that didn’t fit in not like groups that look like carbon copies of each other. Anyway in my opinion this is great music every song.

Too much of her music is too avante garde for me, but this 5 album collection (her first 5 releases, IMHO her best work, containing 7 total bonus tracks) is a great value for me to rip/burn my favorite of her songs to a great playlist CD, especially since all 5 albums have a consistent playback volume (so often lacking in these 5 disc series).

I recently read Patti Smith's book, "Just Kids" and wanted to put her albums on my iPod only to realize I only had them on the original vinyl. I thought I'd download the specific songs I wanted but the "hits" package lacked some songs I needed and my project was becoming expensive. Then I saw this offer. I always check out the reviews when a deal seems too good to be true so I paid special attention to that "one star" review. He seemed like kind of a nit picker and the writers who answered his review sounded like they had the package and knew he was being unappreciative of great deal. I decided to risk my thirty bucks to possibly save forty over what it would cost to download all these records.I'm listening to Wave as I type this. This is an incredible value. At less than half the price it would cost to download these records, you get 5 beautifully packaged CDs with the original cover art. They are contained in a slip box. The whole package is about the size of a normal double CD. The conversion from analog to digital is terrific. It's a very clean sound without a lot of compression. If you're reading this, I probably don't have to tell you that Patti Smith was not just the zenith of Punk Rock, she was the evolution of Rock and Roll, paving the road for Springsteen, U2, the White Stripes and onward.It's true if you want to read the credits you will need a magnifying glass, and the liner notes are not included. I didn't buy this for the liner notes. I bought this for the digital content and I absolutely could not be happier with this purchase. I ordered it Saturday night. As a prime member they told me I'd have it by Tuesday. The delivery guy woke me first thing Monday morning. I was listening to Horses while I brewed coffee. That, in my world, is service!

The photo of Patti Smith on the cover of the box was used on the 1978 German single of "Because the Night" and maybe elsewhere.

Did not realize that patty smith had so many songs I liked...also...she has a voice you can listen to a lot.

I cranked up this collection and listened to all of the cds - one after the other, the night this set arrived. It was as though some life force had been breathed back into my heart and soul. It will remind you why you passed on disco and waited patiently for punk to hit head on. This collection is exhilarating. What are you waiting for, man? Just GET IT!

After reading "Just Kids," I decided to binge on Patti Smith. All I remembered were a few songs that got airplay on the radio. This collection of her first five albums is bargain priced and nicely packaged in individual mini-lp type sleeves. I'm not sure if includes every odd b-side or how it stacks up against some remastered versions available to audiophiles, but it was great to load the albums in chronological order onto my personal music device and bring them to the gym. Yea, some albums are better than others, but it's all Patti, and Patti is all right with me.

I grew up with Patti Smith as the soundtrack for my youth and had three of her albums. Recently I heard "Pissing in the River" on a TV show (Shining Girls) and was mesmerized. Had to have this record. I found it in this box-set which is a complete collection of her recordings. Sound quality is excellent and each CD is in its own sleeve. Amazing value!

I could not find any of these Patti Smyth hit tracks, "Because The Night", "The Warrior" and "Goodbye To You" on any of these five CD's. Probably because the CDs are by Patti Smith!
