The long and short of it is that these mala beads are absolutely beautiful and of excellent quality as well. I'm so very glad that I found these folks and decided to purchase this set from them, specifically. I ordered the 8mm, knotted, black obsidian Mala beads with the tassel, and I'm extremely staisfied with my purchase. It's an even nicer set than I expected it to be. There are cheaper Mala beads out there but you get what you pay for and these handmade Mala are definitely worth every penny.The string the set is held together with is a very nice, black silk- soft and strong. Each of the 108 8-mm beads is genuine black obsidian and they're all very accurate and none of them stand out as bigger or smaller than any other, but you can see up close and feel that no two are exactly the same, and I really dig that.The set I ordered and received has a nice, weighty feel to it, weighing in at 90.75g, which feels like the perfect mass to me (and for reference, if you'd like to "feel" the approximate mass of the mala beads I received, holding 90.75g in your hand can be approximated by holding 16 US quarters or 36 US pennies in your hand.)If you've never owned a set of Mala beads before, I'd definitely suggest going with the knotted Mala; the knots make it easier to pull each bead toward you with your thumb and it makes the set last longer as well. I don't have the biggest hands, but I do have relatively large hands, and ordering the 8mm beads was definitely right choice for me. 8mm is about the size of a pea and if you have bigger hands then less than 8mm will probably be a little more difficult to handle as smoothly as the 8mm beads.My Mala beads came with a nice, soft, cotton pouch to protect them and keep them clean when I'm not using or wearing them, and the cotton pouch came inside a nice, branded black box. My Mala also came with instructions and I must commend these folks for getting the instructions all right, unlike most of the YouTube videos out there (there are specific reasons for why Mala beads are held and used the way they're held and used!) These folks know what they're doing!All in all, you can really tell these folks care a lot about the quality of product they put out there and the price of this Mala was both affordable and very fair. I'm exceedingly happy with my purchase and I'll definitely be ordering a couple more sets from these folks in the future.Five stars all the way.Hare Krishna!

Love these Mala bead necklaces- I have 4 and rotate them out 4-5 days a week. They help me to both relax and ground myself at work when I'm stressed. The only cons are that the fringe on the sandalwood one came off almost immediately and the fringe is coming off on my labradorite necklace as well. An important part of the look but the beads have stayed strung and held up to rigorous wear. I'm a fan and would buy again both for myself and as a gift.

Just as good quality and durability as malas I made for myself.Love the very slightly coated sandalwood beads. Fun fact, without any coating, these natural and delightfully scented beads, would quickly become soiled and probably stained by daily wear, and the color would dull as well. Nobody wants that, do we now.The silk tassel is super delicious and looks like it will last forever, as do the individually knotted beads, which are not too large, not too small, just the right size...and baby bear thinks they are perfect. Whick they certainly are.The price reflects the high quality and durability and just plain lovliness of this mala I will absolutely purchase from this seller again and again.

I have purchased the Red Tassel Lava Rock, Amethyst, Tiger Eye, and Howlite Turquoise malas. The other reviews convinced me that these malas are exceptionally well made and they are. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the malas are stunningly gorgeous. I have a large collection of malas that are mostly made from wood or shells, but the gemstone malas intrigued me and I bought four of them. Plus two bracelets. Skip the cheap ones. They’ll just fall apart. Go with these instead. Best on Amazon, in my opinion.9/21/17 update: I have purchased the White Howlite mala as well and, in a word, gorgeous. I love every gemstone mala that I’ve purchased from MeruBeads and I might purchase the remaining ones that I don’t have, simply because each represents different qualities and energy and frankly, I need all of them!9/24/17 update: Per my previous update, I purchased the remaining two malas that I didn’t have (Obsidian Black and Rhodonite) and I now have all of them. I now have all 8 of them.You really cannot go wrong with any of them. They may cost more than the cheap ones sold by other vendors, but it’s very clear that they’re all made with care and are designed to last. I recommend any of them. High quality and beautiful necklace!

This Amethyst mala is a thing of beauty. It arrived promptly, nicely presented in a stylish little black box with a drawer, accompanied by a drawstring linen carry-pouch in which to place the beads when not in use. The Amethyst crystal beads are cool and calming to the touch. As well as being a visually stunning purple colour, amethyst is reputed to have many other beneficial qualities. The beads are individually knotted on the string for strength. When not using it to say mantras, the mala can also be worn round the wrist or the neck as jewellery. Will treasure this.

My Mala beads arrived very quickly. They were inside a cotton bag inside a box. I love the fact they feel heavy and the tigers eye colours are beautiful. I have used them for meditation already and they are just the right size to move over. I have also worn them around my neck and they hang beautifully. I think the price is just right, as I know from researching there are very cheap ones and very expensive beads out there. I feel very blessed to have found Meru Beads, 🙏🏻 sat nam x

I was hopeful that this would be worth the money since its perhaps more expensive than others on the market and when it arrived (the very next day) i was amazed. Very high quality item and beautifully presented. I love it! Will be ordering others in the future without question.

Well packaged and has a nice weight to it.Makes a fab gift.Only niggle is the stones are tight so the drop is slightly wiggly...over time this works itself out.I would certainly but this product again.
