William Warwick
A very good read, well plotted and convincing throughout. Now for the next one in this series, which I’m already looking forward to!

Nothing Ventured -
This book was set in the late 70s and 80s, but felt more like it was a lot earlier. It has a quite quaint feel about the storyline. I also found that certain parts of the story jumped quite quickly in time and some of the plot seemed wouldn’t actually happen in the real world. However, on saying that, it was an engaging story and one that kept me interested throughout. I don’t want to give any spoiler, but I did guess the every end of the book. I would say 4.5 out of 5.

Brilliant
I am very familiar with the territory. Extremely interested in the judiciary. Such a brilliant kind for attention to detail.

An okay story but other Jeffrey Archer novels are much more engaging.
Overall, I feel rather disappointed by this novel and this is probably because I came to it with high expectations based on my enjoyment of so many of Jeffrey Archer's earlier novels. Nothing Ventured is the opening novel in what is planned to be a saga about the life of detective William Warwick. In this novel William is at the start of his career. So if you enjoy reading stories based on family histories, you may well enjoy this novel ... but I should say I did not find it anything like as engaging as Jeffrey Archer's earlier family dramas such as the Clifton Chronicles or Kane and Abel.If you are looking for a crime mystery / thriller that is strong on plot, character and atmosphere, then you may find this story falls short of your expectations. The plot is nice and easy to follow. However, what keeps you wanting to read more is the literary use of relatively short chapters, many of which end on a cliff-hanger, rather than any dramatic twists and turns in the plot (of which there are relatively few). The characters are all rather predictable and somewhat stereotyped (e.g. stern successful father; son who is determined to do his own thing and not follow in his father's footsteps; girlfriend with something to hide about her past; villain - a mastermind who is always one step ahead of the police, etc. etc.). Atmosphere is distinctly lacking; there is no tension or drama as the plot unfolds and even the dialogue seems rather tame and polite, even when things are going horribly wrong. However, on a positive note, there are no scenes that could be described as being either gory or gruesome. So, overall, I found this story not as engaging as previous Jeffrey Archer novels that I have enjoyed but I do not regret buying it as it was a quick and easy story to read and the plot held my interest sufficiently for me to want to see how it would end. However I doubt I will be reading any more in this series.

Difficult to put down
A very enjoyable, easy to read book. Two interlocked stories in one book. With a final twist in the last sentence.

Nothing Ventured
I haven’t read a Jeffrey Archer book for years. Don’t really know why as he is such a good storyteller. This book is no exception.1st in a new series, it is brilliant. Already started reading the 2nd in the series. Highly recommend.

Introduction
I think this series of books by Jeffrey Archer is the best yet. It grips one from the very begining and you just have to keep reading until you come to the end of book, but then you just want to start the next one, and so on until the end of series.

Easy to read & captivating story
Interesting characters with a decent storyline. Enjoyable holiday read as not hard to follow but interesting enough to keep me coming back to see what happens next.

Not Archer's usual standard.
Not Archer's most professional work. The book seems to have been written ina hurry. Am on the 2nd book in the series, which appears to be better.

Great introduction to Archer
I’m so glad I took a chance on reading this novel. Brilliant. I especially enjoyed all the dialogue within Warwick’s quick witted family ~ Sir Julian had me LOL! ~ but when Warwick met his match with Beth, it just gets better. Looking forward at reading more books because of Archer’s writing style!
