McDavidPro Stabilizer Knee Brace

I am recovering from a fractured knee cap and my doctor just took me out of a full leg immobilizer. Without any assistance, my knee is incredibly weak, unstable and not capable of a full range of motion. It also buckles if I walk without a cane or this brace...Since donning the McDavid brace and had it overnighted. It's been worth every penny. The compression it provides is giving my knee the extra support it needs to help me walk around (without a cane). And the aluminum hinges have given me extra stability, increased my knee's ability to support weight and helped stop my knee from buckling and hyper-extending.Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it to walk around normally, until I'm back to 100%. Yes, yes, yes!I choose a McDavid knee brace after my injury because my knees bothered me before injury and I used one of their level II braces and loved it. Since this brace (a Level III) is of such great quality, McDavid will become my first choose for similar purchases....I just hope I don't need them again anytime soon ;-)

Very hard to determine that these would do what I needed them to do, whichwas immobilize the knee at a prescribed percentage, like 60% bend.Wanted to send them back and they are non returnable. Amazongave me a refund anyway. 5 stars for that!!

My knee was a mess and I refused to sit down. I had workouts to do so I needed something to keep the knee in place while I got on with my life. I read a lot of reviews before choosing a brace. Thanks to everyone who writes reviews. They really are very helpful. I kick box, I lift weights, I zumba. With the brace on I was able to do most of my workouts with some modifications. Without the brace and an injured knee I could not do anything. The brace stayed in place and was very secure. It was difficult to tell if I had the correct size. There was no sizing chart. Thanks to another reviewer I found the size but I think I had a size too large but it worked out okay with the velcro adjustments. I have been wearing my brace for 6 weeks as my knee heals. It has been very helpful in keeping my knee in place and the pain in check as I heal and go about my business as usual

I had to buy these for my adult son after he injured both knees horsing around with a friend of his (you don't want to know how much I lectured him on that incident). These injuries were rather severe and with his added weight (he is a very large structured boy with some additional weight he needs to get rid of) he could not walk at all for the first two days. By that time I had received these braces. He used these braces for several weeks. If not for these braces I don't believe he would have been able to walk again so soon. With these braces and some therapeutic exercises I gave him to do he was able to rehabilitate his knees well enough to be able to walk and perform his job normally within a few weeks. These braces are very well made and he continues to use them from time to time when his knees are bothering him from his work. He has had them for two years as of the writing of this review and they are still holding up well. If they can survive my boy for this long (his nickname is Destructo) they can survive anything. Well made extra heavy duty braces for serious use. Recommend highly.

i have played 2 matches of football/soccer with this brace. the stitching began to come apart after the first 90 minute game. then after i had it repaired for the second match, the stitching surrounding the left side of the metal bar, completely came apart after 45 minutes & i had to remove it. it lasted less than 135 minutes in total. now i will have to try & get it repaired which will cost more money.not at all happy with this item unfortunately.

Not particularly comfortable and didn't really help with my knee problem, I've since found that the simple elasticated type work better for me - the McDavid have much better lateral support though if you need that.

My wife's Mother (age 91) had two recent instances of her knee giving out causing her to fall (thankfully without additional trauma). After a doctor's inspection of the knee, a brace was advised to provide additional support and reduce the likelihood of future falls. Whereupon, I was asked to hunt one down.Having scoured medical supply stores in the area and not being impressed with the offerings and price points, I researched the internet, including Amazon.com. Amazon's selection of knee braces is simply unsurpassed, as is its prices. But what sets Amazon apart is its customer opinions/reviews of the various braces offered for sale. It was based upon these reviews, particularly those dealing with the McDavid 428 Pro Stabilizer Knee Brace, that convinced me to purchase this brace.I wanted a brace that would be easy for an elderly person to put on. I wanted a brace that was comfortable when worn so that it would encourage its continued use. Finally, I wanted a brace that securely stabilized the knee joint, thereby reducing the risk of fall.My Mother-in-law ("MIL") was able to easily put on the brace. Once in place, she commented on its comfort. Though it took some time for her to get the courage to move around in it, once she did she slowly gained confidence in the brace's ability to hold her knee securely in place as she walked. Now she is walking with confidence (though mindful that she is no longer an young lady). It has truly given her back a feeling of independence (though we keep her walking cane around just in case!)Measurement of the knee is critical to a good fit. Check the internet for sizing information. But I used the following technique: 1) Measure the knee cap with a cloth/paper measuring tape (Use a long piece string if you don't have a cloth measuring tape for the knee. Then use a ruler to measure the length of string that was wrapped around the knee). 2) Measure 2 inches above the knee. Consult the sizing chart of the knee brace you are going to buy with the 2 measurements you obtained. That chart will give a range in inches of appropriate size of brace to purchase - S, M, L, XL.An interesting side note: Following an appointment with my MIL's Chiropractor, he confessed utter amazement at the quality and construction of the McDavid 428 Pro Stabilizer Knee Brace and its success in stabilizing my MIL's knee.I can, based upon my observations of my MIL's use of the McDavid 428 Pro Stabilizer Knee Brace and her own assessment, highly recommend this fine product.

This gives me great support for my arthritic knee. It is sturdy and easy to put on and it mostly stays in place. I have a custom made brace that just falls down my leg almost immediately so I don't use it. The only thing is it is hard to wear under clothes.

The product is good. but don't get fooled with the size mentioned on the chat.it does not fit the knee.measured around the knee it showed 14" as per instructions shown . when i got the brace and tried it((14"-15"..... M). it does not fit at all.Go for one size bigger (15"-17"..... L) without hesitation, if not you will need take pain to return the product back. appreciate amazon customer support. They responded very quickly..

Fantastic fit and feel. Injured my knee skiing and this brace gave me the support needed to heal and return to the slopes. I now wear the brace while skiing to support my knee. Can't say enough good things about this product.

Best knee brace ever!! I was suffering from my knee popping/ slipping out of place every time I would skateboard for fun or in contests it was very painful! With this knee brace is holds my knee in place, from slippage as well has built up strength back in it so in time I can skate without it here and there! I would recommend this knee brace to anyone who has knee problems!

Size guide is accurate and brace works well. One star lost for being a bit bulky but otherwise good product.
