Is this for brewing your own beer and not just dispensing beer?

You would need to purchase additional fittings depending on what kind of kegs you are using to put your beer in. This come with a "D" coupler which fits most standard North American beers, but for home brewing you would use a ball lock or pin lock keg and then would need a ball lock or pin lock conversion kit instead of a D coupler to attach the hoses to the keg.

Just bought the stainless version of this kegerator - what is the loose metal plate that came with it inside?

the metal plate goes on the bottom of the fridge for the keg(s) to sit on. It helps distribute the weight of the keg(s). Is this an outdoor kegerator

We had ours for 6 years on a covered porch with hot and humid Florida weather... it just died and I’m buying the same one... can’t beat the price... not sure an expensive outdoor keg would last any longer
