Blueair is 'Minimalist Design' and top-heavy; but this is quality kit and performs well.
The Blueair Blue Pure 411 is one of the most cost-effective purifiers in the Blueair range and it works well. There are cheaper brands on the market of course, but the Blueair Pure 411 is head and shoulders above the resat of the pack. It has 3 power settings, and the night setting really is quiet - if for no other reason, this was a huge factor in my making the decision to go with Blueair. However there are a few things that you need to be aware of. First of all, the much-toted "minimalist design" is a bit too minimalist. Having no handles or even some kind of grip means it has no way of being carried easily: you have to use both hands if you don't want the fan business end to fall off. And that leads to the second challenge: its centre of gravity. All the working parts are housed in the top white section, so it is totally top heavy. The blue section is just the filter housed in a very light-weight casing. So it becomes unstable if placed on a carpet, but if you don't plan on moving the unit, all well and good. If, like me, you move it from room to room, then that's when you find out just how easy it is for the motor hosing to simply fall off. The other factor is that the power cord hangs down from the fan unit - not at the base. This presents a trip hazard, made worse by the "upside down" plug . Performance: using on full power to purify a room before you are going to use it (i.e., a bedroom before bedtime) then reducing to the lowest power during the night DOES have a very positive impact on air quality even with the door ajar. On nigh-time performance alone, I'd give it a 5* rating. (An obvious but true point - PLEASE remember that almost all purifiers have a fan - this COOLS THE AIR! ON the lowest setting this isn't really an issue, but on medium and high settings it does create a draft. I really wanted to give this unit a full 5-~Star rating. It has a quality, no gimmicks feel to it, and it performs very well just so long as you don't knock it over and don't move it from room to room very often. However, despite it being just a bit TOO minimalist in its design, I DO recommend it and I'd certainly buy again. Addition: a reviewer has complained about the smell of the filters. With a brand new filter, there was a slight odour but this went away after just the first few hours of operation, so as far as I'm concerned, that is NOT a problem.

First Air purifier and very happy
This has helped my breathing and reduced the stuffiness in my nose that I didn't know I had! Its on the lowest setting and on all day, its so quiet I regularly put my hand over the top to check its on. Its really light and simple to use, set up and maintain. The pre-filter is a winner as its unreal how much that catches. It does get a fair bit noisier on the higher settings, so I usually put it on those when I am out of the room. I noticed the room/I get warmer on the higher settings. So I haven't used this on a setting above 1 with me in the room. I would still buy this again/more for other rooms purely for the price and simplicity. Replacement filters a fairly priced and do not require changing so often due to the pre-filter (additional available at reasonable price). I read reviews of other products and they have similar issues regarding noise levels and the price of replacement filters are higher and more often, with gimmicky apps and a higher starting cost. If you need a device that works, low cost and easy to maintain, that's this product.

This does a great job!
We have 2 dogs in the house and I also suffer with seasonal allergies. I recently purchased the bigger Blueair Pure 221 for our bedroom and was so impressed I bought this smaller Pure 411 for my home office. They have been a game changer for me. The air in the room feels so clear and healthy. And I feel less congested. It's also helped with the inevitable smells from having 2 large Golden Retriever dogs. Noise wise, it's ok. It has 3 settings, low-medium-high. On the lowest setting, it really is whisper quiet. Medium setting gives off a white/static noise - I like a background noise, so find it quite soothing. On the highest setting, I would say it's very loud. I only use the high setting after I've vacuumed etc. I mostly keep it on medium. The fabric 'pre-filter' cover does a great job at catching hair from the dogs, pet dander and dust. I wash mine each week and I purchased a spare cover with the machine. It means I can wash one, while still having the spare on the go. I've really noticed less dust settling on the desks etc It's made a really big difference. It's a simple unit to use, with only 1 button, which you press to go up the levels. The LED's come on, depending on which level you have it at. I now have the bigger 405 Classic in the lounge, the smaller Blue 411 in my home office and the Blue 221 in the master bedroom. They are all really impressive. Quiet and very low energy use, which we are all very mindful of these days. Highly recommended - having these Air Purifier's has made a big difference to me.

Air is definitely cleaner
This is the first air purifier I've bought ever and i'm glad I went with this one. After doing a lot of research and reading through many reviews I decided to go with this one. We've used it so far in our sitting room and in our bedroom (our bedroom is where we've decided to leave it permanently). We have 2 labradors and 3 cats and I've become very conscious now that we're spending more time at home that there's so much floating around in the air like dust and fur and all sorts and we both tend to get quite congested during the night and also sometimes during the day so I decided to invest in a good quality air purifier. I love this. It's a nice simple design, love the face there's one simple button on the top for the 3 settings. I like the fact there's an outer washable filter so you don't have to replace the inner filter that often. Time will tell though if it really does make a massive difference but I can definitely feel the difference in our bedroom at night and I don't think I'm waking up as congested. I tend to leave it on the lowest setting at night, you don't hear it at all on the lowest. On level 2 you can definitely hear it but it's not an annoying noise, quite soothing and I haven't really had it on level 3 a whole lot. I would definitely recommend it.

i am not sure why this is sold in mainland europe as it has only a UK power connection and therefore cannot be used without adapter. there is no note about this in the description.
